i too had a bad experience with this firm and as a result did not want to renew my insurance with them. I too never received my insurance certificate etc and after several phone calls where they told me it was in the post, it suddenly clicked to them that they had the wrong address for me..can you believe this they forgot to put a door number. However much to my disgust i was charged £10 for the extra policy they sent me as a result of their incompetence. I did not renew with them this year but guess what - they sent me an email saying they have deducted £290 from my card for renewal. i called them up to complain & they told me as I had not called them to cancel renewal they will 'automatically renew the policy'. I never heard of this before and told the call center guy who said its their company policy and that i should read the small print. I told him i wanted to cancel the policy and was told it will cost me £30 to do so and had the check to say it was illegal to have another policy with another company while having one with them. Then to add insult to injury they wanted proof from me that i was insured with another company..surely its none of their business. ...but not as much as Budget were offering, they quoted me for the same deal as I was getting but without protecting my no claims and their price was just over £255.00. Well I'm a pretty safe driver, so I decided to go for it...................big mistake....................HUGE mistake. I'll tell you why.
I telephoned their freephone number and gave my quote number, they asked a few of the usual questions, and then asked about the security device ... ...Next I wrote to Budget and made a formal complaint. Three weeks later I got a letter from them saying they had looked into my complaint and more or less said as I had not provided the required information or had an alarm fitted, they were not prepared to do anything about the catalogue of errors.

Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Cheap service, rude staff in SA call centre
...have been a customer of Budget Insurance for about 5 years and have had two non-fault accidents. the first was dealt with swiftly and efficiently, my car was fixed, a replacement car was given, all with no effort required from me.
My second accident however coincided with the renewal of my policy. This meant that at the moment I was being requoted, my policy reflected an accident that had not yet been recorded as a non-fault, so my premium sky-rocketed. ... ...found an 0800 number for Budget on a 'say no to 0870' website and got through to a customer services rep in the UK who, in a 10 minute conversation, sorted out what has taken me 10 months to do previously, which is commendable.
One more thing (sorry, I know this is long) but if you ever try to call their SA customer services and ask for the person you had previously been talking to, they will suddently begin to tell you that the line is breaking ...

...My initial decision to use Budget was based entirely on cost - the quote was approx. £60 cheaper than the competitors. However, when Drake sank (excuse the pun) Budget showed its worth. I have heard from others who lost the remainder of their policy and the premium and were having to to the policyholders protection board (if that is the right name) to look for compensation. Budget, however, after letting us sweat for a while, merely asked for the ... ...of the term, underwritten by Budget itself. I understand that the circumstances were beyond Budgets control, but they dealt with them quite well, certainly better than other brokers. A little more communication during the proceedings would have been welcome, but I am very happy with the eventual outcome and will consider using Budget again. Advantages: Competitive at the Time Disadvantages: Did Not Replace the Car New for Old if Written Off within 12 mths
My partner bought his car insurance through this company for the first time last year. We were unfortunate to be rammed 10 mths later and have our car written off. Three months later we are still waiting for our money. They are sending us pathetic letters, trying to waste as much time as possible, offering us almost £6 k less than we paid 10 mths previously. I am at my wits end, is there anybody out there, that can offer me advice as to whom to contact ... ...able to deal with our personal injuries claims. The Insurance company asked us to send them private adverts for the same car with same mileage etc. I sent them cars from garages as I was unable to find the same model privately for sale, and they are refusing them. I am at my wits end, and appreciate any advice similar readers that ended up in our situation can offer me. Did anybody else have a difficult time with this Company

Budget car insurance is cheap - but the service is outstanding. I haven't been driving long and I had a small accident which wasnt my fault. I had been with Budget only a few weeks but I found they were more than helpful. As a novice I had very little idea what to do, althogh I did make sure I got the other drivers name and details. I phoned them and was rather worried because I didnt have a clue who had to claim or what.
Having taken my worries ... ...to do and assured me that I wasnt at fault. I was told I didnt have to claim anything and that they would even deal with his company to ensure I recieved the correct amount etc.. should I encounter any troubles! Thankfully the mess is now sorted and my car repaired (only minor repair was needed to a rear light which was hit). It wasn't a claim case, but it was comforting to know they were there to advise me even when it wasn't really anything to ...

Last september it weas time to renew my insurance again, i had a quote from express insurance brokers but decided to see if i could better there quote on the internet, i went onto a comparison site, i cant remember which one it scanned a lot of insurance quotes for me and came up with budget as the cheapest which was also cheaper than the quote that express insurance group had gotten me.
I opted for fully comp insurance with my no claims bonus protected, full legal cover and a £200 excess if my car was in an accident and a £60 excess on the glass. For this i payed just £196 for a year which i payed as one payment by debit card.
I was realy hapy to get a good deal and only have to pay that much but after a stone hit my windscreen and put a chip in it i became a little hesitant as to weather they would offer all they had said they ...

My advice is that these are an insurer you should only go with if you don't intend to claim, move house or make any other change to your policy.
Budget offered us a quote on our new house which was ridiculous, or an £82 refund.
When we rang back to cancel though the refund had changed to £19.14. When we asked why, they said there was a £35 cancellation charge (fair enough!) but then they also take 80% of the balance ALSO as a cancellation charge, as we had 5 months left on the policy!
They also wanted to charge us an additional £25 if we accepted a quote on the new property, for "administration" - all that work caused by us accepting a quote presumably.
I would stay well clear of Budget and spend an additional £10-£20 to get an insurancecompany that's actually useful when you need them. Smart People definitely don't use Budget. ...

Needless to say, no phonecall. I left it two days before I phoned again and third employee said the second one "could never have said they'd phone back that quickly" and that it takes 7 days to get permission to listen to a phonecall.
I complained and a was told a manager would phone me. She did, but although my landline was free she phoned my mobile and left a curt message saying she was "returning my call". No word as to getting my insurance sorted out, nor the patronising incompetence of Budget's call centre operatives.
I could go on but I'm just too frustrated - this is just to warn people that Budget Home Insurance customer service will treat you, the customer, like dirt.
In the end I gave up trying to get my policy altered and, with only a month to go on my Budget policy anyway, vowed to go with another company never to ...
