Buffalo AirStation Wireless-N Nfniti Router WZR2-G300N - wireless router

...I recently bought one of these routers after my dlink blew up, I was told by a friend that buffalo made excellent wireless routers and he wasn't wrong, this router works brillantly. This router has wireless access, including 4 ports intergrated for any ethernet cable needs, its small and easy to place anywhere without it looking out of place, It has a 54mbps data transfer rate which is rather good for todays router standards, a 2.4ghz frequency band, which means it can be recieved over a good distance, but the distance can be changed using the easy browser setup. It has many data link protocols incluing Ethernet, Fast Ethernet. IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g. It also has many features to this device as, Firewall protection (never had a virus since using it), auto sensing per device, DCHP support, auto uplink, IGMP snooping, Stateful... Read review

Advantages: Can be flashed, protection from being bricked.

...If you are looking for a wireless router that you can flash with open source firmware, then this is your router. I bought 2 of these routers specifically to flash with dd-wrt, and to bridge my 2 wired networks. For more information about dd-wrt visit: http://www.dd-wrt.com/ Specifically I used version v23 SP3 which has been serving me very well for the last couple of months. DD-WRT does have some missing features that I miss from other routers (fixed ip assignment using dhcp). However the short coming is nothing compared to the orginal software that was shipping by Buffalo. Using the new software, I can overclock router's cpu, boost signal range, detailed statistics, and gain ssh login. I hope that some of the missing features that I wanted will become available with v24... Read review

Advantages: best way to get a wired ethernet port at the other end of a wireless connection

...11 Wireless Ethernet Bridge, which is similar, but the Buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP is better in every way. It is much easier to set up (via a simple web interface, and access to the 1.1.1.1 configuration port), it has great range, it has 4 ports instead of 1, and it has been totally trouble-free. With the Linksys WET11, the only way I can get back to the configuration screen after setting it up is to reset the device and start from scratch. With the Buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP, its default configuration/status address is 1.1.1.1 after a reset, but you can change it to something in your local subnet, so you can still get to the configuration/status page after it is set up. Nice! Buffalo also has some similar products with just one ethernet port, instead of four. Those are the products with "TX1" in the model number, instead of "TX4."... Read review
