Manufacturer's product description
With the ever increasing demand for digital content creation and storage, file sizes are getting larger and people have a need for faster data transfer and back-up. The DriveStation Combo4 Turbo USB comes with a choice of interfaces types - eSATA, FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. Support of FireWire 400 and 800 interfaces ensures high speed communication and data transfer rates within a Mac environment. The USB2.0 interface transfer speed is further boosted by the use of Buffalo’s Turbo USB software, offering an improved transfer rate of up to 20%. eSATA is becoming the external storage interface for many video and audio specialists who require high transfer speeds. This combination of interfaces on a single product offers universal connectivity for both Windows and Mac users.
Advantages: Very fast, high capacity. Disadvantages: Pricey, may be outlived by long-life Blu-ray discs.
.../100/1000 megabit compatible), an on/off switch (which also has an auto setting) and a rather curious, possibly James Brown inspired "Func" button. There's also a ghettoblaster style mains socket and a 40-50mm fan grill. The fan is a little bit noisy but you wouldn't notice it in our server room. It's also drowned out by the sound of the drives when their in operation. There's also a wonderful silver panel on the front of the unit with ultra-low profile status indicators for power and network.
A quick look under the hood reveals two Hitachi deskstar 1TBdrives which are mounted at the front of the case. This is a joy to see as Hitachi drives are my personal favourites after a review I saw showed they were almost on a par with Western Digitals Raptors in terms of speed, but with decent capacity and a lower price tag. The drives are linked by a single...

Advantages: 750GB, 7200rpm, Hi-Speed USB, Very reliable & Easy To Use Disadvantages: None
...The BuffaloDriveStation Turbo USB HD-HS750U2 750 GB is a very useful external hard drive. I have networked computers so use it for back up and storage, which makes it easy for the networked computers to access the same data from one unit.
The unit itself is well designed and looks good, its basically just going to sit next to your computer and is just a shell for the hard drive inside and for that it looks quite cool. The dimensions of the unit is 1.8" (w), 6.4" (d), 7.9" (h) and it weighs around 1.5kg.
The external hard drive lets you back up and easily access various stored files and folders without taking up room on your PC's main hard drive. This is based on the SATA hard drive technology which is for larger capacity and with turbo USB technology, The hard drives transfer rate is much more than those of standard USB hard...

Advantages: Alternative Power Modes, USB2.0 Connection Disadvantages: Tendency To Heat Up Quickly
...And it is, pretty much. I bought this product simply because I ran out of hard drive space on my current PC. I needed somewhere to store all of my music and documents and the Buffalo 250GB Hard Drive was the perfect solution.
Whilst it isn't the most attractive looking unit, it is purely practical. It also comes with a USB 2.0 Lead in the box (Which is a pleasant change from the norm!)
The alternative power supply options are a stroke of genius. You can either have the unit permanently on (Which is useful in the case of using the hard drive as Network attached storage through a PC) or "On when required" which is great for all of those who are concerned about conserving energy.
The setup disk is standard nowadays....Autorun, is the way forward. Next, Next, Next and your done. It automatically maps the drives on your...
