Advantages: 750GB, 7200rpm, Hi-Speed USB, Very reliable & Easy To Use Disadvantages: None
...The BuffaloDriveStationTurboUSBHD-HS750U2 750 GB is a very useful external hard drive. I have networked computers so use it for back up and storage, which makes it easy for the networked computers to access the same data from one unit.
The unit itself is well designed and looks good, its basically just going to sit next to your computer and is just a shell for the hard drive inside and for that it looks quite cool. The dimensions of the unit is 1.8" (w), 6.4" (d), 7.9" (h) and it weighs around 1.5kg.
The external hard drive lets you back up and easily access various stored files and folders without taking up room on your PC's main hard drive. This is based on the SATA hard drive technology which is for larger capacity and with turboUSB technology, The hard drives transfer rate is much more than those of standard USB hard drives...

Advantages: Size, capacity, does the job! Disadvantages: Stand, heat
..., auto on, and a seperate on/off switch. Simple.
Cables - simple power supply and USB connector (lack of Firewire will put off some)
Ruggedness - I've banged it around a bit but it is holding up well.
Spec - capacity is great as mentioned above, but also spin speed of 7200m is good. My problem is i connect to a USB1 port, but this is a USB2 device.
Cost - this thing keeps falling in price, and it was already great value for money when i bought it for 95gbp!
Negatives
-------------
Stand - two little plastic feet that help the disk stay upright (although it does without them). One broke within the first few days, mainly due to my clumsiness, but don't rely upon them.
Heat - case does get a little warm with continuous use, but this is a minor gripe.
Overall
----------
Need extra space and a reliable simple to use external drive...

Advantages: Alternative Power Modes, USB2.0 Connection Disadvantages: Tendency To Heat Up Quickly
...And it is, pretty much. I bought this product simply because I ran out of hard drive space on my current PC. I needed somewhere to store all of my music and documents and the Buffalo 250GB Hard Drive was the perfect solution.
Whilst it isn't the most attractive looking unit, it is purely practical. It also comes with a USB2.0 Lead in the box (Which is a pleasant change from the norm!)
The alternative power supply options are a stroke of genius. You can either have the unit permanently on (Which is useful in the case of using the hard drive as Network attached storage through a PC) or "On when required" which is great for all of those who are concerned about conserving energy.
The setup disk is standard nowadays....Autorun, is the way forward. Next, Next, Next and your done. It automatically maps the drives on your system...
