Advantages: Solid, feature packed, easy to use Disadvantages: Not as fast as direct attached storage, plus a little noisy.
I have been using my Buffalo (called 'Bertie'!) for over 4 months now, and it has worked very well indeed. Bertie is connected to my gigabit switch and is accessed by 4 other computers, and it also hosts a file sharing site too. The drive sits in a Windows environment, and is very easy to connect up. After a 15 second boot process, you access the features of the drive through a browser. All the usual tools for network drives are there, plus some seriously useful user permissions, and trashcan tools. It has hot swappable drives too (I bought a spare just in case), but this sold beast I feel will never breakdown. It's not the quietest drive in the world, but this is a minor annoyance. The actual data transfer over the network is not as fast as directly attached storage, but the benefits of using a network far out weigh this. When I need ...

HTC Touch Pro2
It wasn't all too long ago that I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of HTC's first Touch Pro handset, but when I did get my hands on it I was a little disappointed. I obviously wasn't the only one as I now have in my hand the new version, the HTC Touch Pro2. Even with its improved software and a very nicely designed tilt screen, I still needed to be convinced this was a serious alternative to competitive Smartphone's like the iPhone 3GS, Nokia N97 and the host of available BlackBerry's.
Design and Features
There is no denying that the new Pro2 is a very visually appealing handset, the 3.6 inch touchscreen allows for a 480x800 widescreen VGA resolution, using a customised version of the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. Although it is very 'business' like in appearance, its metal and black ...

HTC's Touch Pro2 Review
A little background
HTC's Touch Pro2 offers a lot over my previous phone, the HTC Tytn II, I bought the phone because I was already satisfied with Windows Mobile and I have had good experiences with HTC phones previously- ultimately this review reflects the quality of two phones, one belonging to my father and the other to me, and so far we're both very satisfied.
Key Background
This review is based on:
* 3 months use as my sole phone
* Two units (and two owners... no replacements needed)
* Use of the UK Vodafone network
* Using a HSDPA connection (negatively impacting on battery life compared to a 3G or 2G connection)
* Use of the default Windows Mobile 6.1 OS and an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5
Initial thoughts
I bought the Touch Pro2 because I am a fan of physical ...
