I have played the clarinet for 17 years, initially using a hired clarinet from the school for the first couple of years. Once my parents saw that I was serious about learning to play the clarinet they bought me one of my own.

They bought me a Buffet clarinet which I have now owned for 15 years and it is still in really good condition. Someone once told me that Buffet were one and the same as Boosey & Hawkes and their instruments were always of superior quality. At the time when my parents purchased my clarinet it was very good value for money, I think if I remember correctly they payed somewhere in the region of about £200 - £250 for it.

For anyone reading this article who is perhaps considering buying a clarinet I would certainly recommend Buffet because as I said earlier I have owned mine for 15 years now and I have not had any bother with it.
