I have a Buffet R13 clarinet and I have been complimented on my tone many a time whenever I play it. The Look:
The wood on these clarinet is beautiful and every clarinet is truly unique, which helps make them feel more personal. The silver plated keys look good and polish up well with a silver cloth, and they don't tarnish. The carrying case also looks good, whilst being sturdy and strong. Rating-8/10
Maintenance:
The main maintenance requirement ... ...one, you need to devote alot of attention to the cork joints, because they need a lot of cork grease to prevent the instrument from sticking together (have had that problem more than once!) Care and attention will ensure you have smooth lubrication of the joints and prevent the cork from falling apart.
Another issue is they keys-always keep those screwdrivers you get from crackers in your case! There will always be the occasionally loose screw which, ...

Advantages: Great sound, the 'cheapest' of the professional models Disadvantages: there are better clarinets out there...but they're more expensive
...Yamaha, or a Buffet? A Buffet E11, E13, R13 or R13 GL? And then what mouthpiece to get? It was all a bit daunting, so I’d recommend you take your teacher along with you, and just try out as many clarinets as you can.
So obviously, in the end I chose to go for the Buffet R13. This was because it’s apparently the first professional model, which means that, for my needs anyway, I’ll never have to fork out more money for a better clarinet. ... ...recommendation: don’t use the standard Buffet mouthpiece that comes with the clarinet. If you’re spending £1000+ on a clarinet, I’m sure you won’t mind paying just that little bit extra for a better mouthpiece; it makes a huge difference to the sound and is only (ha!) another 70 quid. I went for a Selmer, and also a BG ligature which improves the sound greatly.
