What is Build a bear? ------------------------------ Well this is basically a company which sells you bears which you need to make and create yourself. They are located across the country and they are teddy bears without the fillings inside and you get to choose which sort of bear you want. This could be an animal design or a basic teddy. You get to stuff the bear yourself and buy the bear clothes and treat it like a real companion. They are definitely worthwhile visiting if you are someone with a little daughter as they seem more interested than the boys would be.
The Game -------------- I got this game for my niece who plays the Nintendo Ds console and because I am a huge softy I decided to play on it as well and was actually impressed. At the start of the game you are asked to create a profile. This will be the bear you choose and keep throughout the game and there is a few to choose from and I chose the monkey as I found that one more masculine. At the start menu you are given 6 options for the game and you get to click on one of those and begin the adventure. The six options are Dinner, Play time, Shopping, Bed time, Wardrobe and Games.
Dinner ---------- This is where you get to mix some ingredients to make your bear some dinner to eat. You get to experiment with mixtures but at the start you need to visit the game section. On this section it teaches you how to make different recipes to give to your bear and you get to practice and once you have done that you can then go back to the main menu and just click on the meal icon and begin to play the game to the best of your own ability.
You get to see all the items clearly and the biggest problem would be the eggs as you need to crack them and sometimes they are fairly tough to crack and can be very frustrating indeed but overall pretty easy to do and it helps children who the game is aimed at more than anyone else learn to appreciate food and get inspiration at the same time.
Playground ------------------ Well the playground is where you get to teach your bear ways of enjoying themselves. You will see your bear walk into this huge like park area and there is a swing there and some balls to play with and you can play little challenges like jumping on the swing and attempting to kick the ball at the same time when you swing back again.
You also have the chance to practice some moves as well. In the corner of the screen when you click on the playground option you will see this wizard wand icon and you get to click on some moves to do. You use the stylus and you basically draw the shape that they ask you to do in order for your bear to move. Once you done it correctly three times you get given a pass. You use these moves to use on the games section which involves you dancing and using these moves you have learnt. Each time on the games you progress you can then have more moves unlocked in the playground area.
Shopping Trolley ------------------------ This is where you get to buy your bear some clothes. When you play games you get given coins and you get more each time you do something the game asks and you visit the shopping trolley and this will give you options such as the shirts, trousers, shoes, hats, scarves the entire outfit you would want. As you log on daily more items become unlocked to purchase.
When you click on an item it displays this item on your bear so you can see how they look as well which is nice and helpful.
Wardrobe ------------- Every item you have brought is stored in the wardrobe section and you can swap and change the outfit your bear is wearing whenever you want to which is nice. I like to change mine regularly or when I get on to play because it creates a fresh new look and makes the adventure seem more enjoyable. The wardrobe will scroll through all the items and you click on an item and the bear then begins to wear them.
Games ------------- There are 5 games to play with your bear and they are basically easy to start with but get tougher as time progresses further. You have the dinner game which was mentioned before you practice recipes and then you get to do them for real to give your bear so he does not go hungry. You have musical chairs which is a good game and easy to play.
You have honey drops which is a game where you have bee's dropping honey and you need to catch them in buckets before the time runs out and the spiders take the buckets. A very fun game and needs co-ordination and concentration to complete. You have another game which is the dance game and this is 20 levels long and you need to try and get a certain amount right in order to progress and have symbols fly at you and what you learnt in the playground pays off here. All games regardless of how well you do give you coins to spend in the shop if you wish to.
Bed Time ---------------- When you finish the game you should click on the bed time icon and this is where you tidy up the bedroom of your bear and then you brush his teeth which is fun and comb his hair and he goes to bed and if you do this it sometimes unlocks other items of clothing as well.
Summary ---------------- The game has good graphics and is so user friendly I found no problems with the game except the eggs not cracking to well for the cooking but children will love this game as it is basically for them. My niece loves it and we play for ages and you can swap clothes with friends if you wish although yet to try this out fully. The game is easy to use and if you ever get stuck easy page has a helper there to assist you. I got this game for myself for just £6 from Asda just over a month ago and it is not badly priced and plenty of fun to have at the same time. Definitely worth buying as a Christmas present in my view.
