4 Stars Build a Friend Review with images 14/11/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Complete gift making experience, special gifts for an occasion

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can get expensive

Although we’ve been super organised with buying Christmas presents this year, we had one present left to get, a super special Teddy Bear for seven month old Freddy. All his brothers and sisters already have one of these special bears each, bears that Mum lovingly chose, stuffed and dressed for them, so it’s only right that Freddy should have one too. So what am I talking about? A bear from build-a-bear of course, a delightful shop where you can pick, stuff and completely personalise a new friend from a range of soft toys. The Shop Itself Although there are over 50 Build-a-Bear workshops dotted ... more

4 Stars A Bear is Born Today Review with images 15/01/2009

Advantages Advantages Fun outing, kids absolutely love it

Disadvantages Disadvantages Schmaltzy consumerism (must try to stop being so cynical)

My two sons (5 and 8) have often lingered at the window of the Build-a-Bear Workshop in our nearest shopping centre as their dad and/or I try to drag them past because there are chores to be done and because going in will no doubt mean copious amounts of money being spent!! Our youngest is particularly keen on soft toys and has often talked about the Build-a-Bear Workshop as somewhere he'd like to go. So when Nana and Grandpa asked for ideas for his 5th birthday, I suggested vouchers, and we planned an outing for him to spend them. His 8 year old brother so wanted to join in that he raided his ... more

4 Stars Build a Friend! Review with images 03/07/2009
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Good choices, nice assistants, good for kids

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit boring for young children, expensive

When Harry turned 3 in March, we didn't want to spoil him with too many gifts, but we also wanted to get something a little bit special for him. He has 2 Hamley's bears that he has in bed with him every night, and he loves them to bits and they are what gave me the idea for his birthday present. We decided that after taking him to the local soft play, we would go to the Build-a-Bear workshop and let him build his very own bear, completely of his own choosing. We didn't tell him about it, so when we turned up outside the shop, he was shocked and amazed that he was going in, let alone buying his ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice for a gift idea and children's parties.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Price can add up if lots of accessories are bought at same time as buying the bear.

When Build A Bear arrived in the High Street I wondered what it was all about, so I went in to browse and see for myself, I thought it was a good idea to dress a bear and choose its own outfit etc but I did not have anyone to buy one for until my grandson was born. Then for his 1st birthday I thought I would buy him one as I had always wanted to buy one. I now have a little granddaughter who is 8 months old, so I wanted to buy one for her too but not for her birthday. This reason being is we took our grandson to the shop earlier this year to buy an outfit for his bear, he wanted to take a bear ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages pricey

My daughter and I are quite new to the build a bear experience after going for the first time at the Trafford Centre with a friend. It was an instant hit with my daughter and after recieving some money at Easter she asked if she could go and make a new bear so I decided to take her to the Build A Bear Workshop in Bury. Build A Bear is a workshop that allows children to make their own soft toy from start to finish. As you enter the shop you can see rows of soft toys on shelves, buckets of empty soft toys and rails of clothes for the finished article. The idea is to choose a toy, a sound effect ... more
