Build-A-Bear Workshop

My two sons (5 and 8) have often lingered at the window of the Build-a-Bear Workshop in our nearest shopping centre as their dad and/or I try to drag them past because there are chores to be done and because going in will no doubt mean copious amounts of money being spent!! A Bear is Born Today

Advantages: Fun outing, kids absolutely love it
Disadvantages: Schmaltzy consumerism (must try to stop being so cynical)

...at the window of the Build-a-Bear Workshop in our nearest shopping centre as their dad and/or I try to drag them past because there are chores to be done and because going in will no doubt mean copious amounts of money being spent!! Our youngest is particularly keen on soft toys and has often talked about the Build-a-Bear Workshop as somewhere he'd like to go. So when Nana and Grandpa asked for ideas for his 5th birthday, I suggested vouchers, and ...

In the Build-a-Bear Workshop you select what kind of bear or other soft toy you would like, you stuff it and insert its heart, choose clothes for it and then print off a birth certificate.

Being a cynical old (OK, not THAT old) lady, I find this to be just a concept and a corny one at that. It's simply a teddy bear shop, isn't it? You go in wanting a teddy, you come out with one. Same as any other toy shop, except ... more

Build a Friend!

Advantages: Good choices, nice assistants, good for kids
Disadvantages: Bit boring for young children, expensive

...we would go to the Build-a-Bear workshop and let him build his very own bear, completely of his own choosing. We didn't tell him about it, so when we turned up outside the shop, he was shocked and amazed that he was going in, let alone buying his own bear! I wasn't really aware the Build-a-Bear franchise until recently as I have no need to go into one of their stores! I knew of the idea of making something as when my fiance and I went to New York ...
...with this. The Build-a-Bear experience is a great one for young children, but a quite expensive one for us parents, especially if you let your child have free rein of what they want to dress their bear in. Harry did enjoy it but again seemed a bit young to appreciate it fully, but he does really love his Patrick and proudly shows him off to anyone who will listen! It is a nice idea, as children will get attached to a bear that they have helped to ...

I prefer them floppy and not stuffed.

Advantages: Provide fun and good for children.
Disadvantages: Expensive.

My introduction to Build-A-Bear began from my sons school. They have a small dark brown bear as a work incentive. The pupils have a chart in the classroom. They are awarded with stars for good behaviour and being a model pupil. At the end of the week that stars are all counted. The pupil with the most stars is awared the bear, for a week only. My son has had him a few times which he has loved. The presence of the bear creates enthusiasm in the classroom. ...
...enough. A visit to Build-A-Bear in Plymouth became necessary. I have not visited any other Build-A-Bear shops, just the Plymouth one. There are actually 46 Build-A-Bear workshops in the United Kingdom. They are also located in other countries. They are all listed on the webiste which is www.buildabear.com. The website is quite nice. It is colourful and you can look at the available bears which you can order on line also. You can also book parties. ...

Greetings from Pinkie and Wolf

Advantages: Fun for kids, nice range of teddy bears, good concept
Disadvantages: A bit disappointing for an adult who likes to make her own

...will be donated to the Build-A-Bear Workshop UK Foundation to support literacy - a good idea in my opinion), Peace & Hugs (blue with lots of peace signs on - if you like that sort of thing) and a recent introduction in the form of a polar bear complete with a pink fairisle scarf and hat, imaginatively named Cuddly Cute Polar Bear. What you'll notice if you're buying from the shop is that the teddy bears are not complete. The heads are stuffed, but ...
...is because the fun of Build-A-Bear Workshop is in the build work. First you choose your teddy, rather obvious really I suppose. Second you get to choose a "cool" sound. If you are like me you will find most of these sounds rather annoying, but you do have the option of recording your own sound if you so desire. These cost from £2-£4, or online you have an option of a download song from a Singing Contest Winner - Let's Talk About Love for 72p. To ...

Build A Bear Workshop - Fluffy Fun

Advantages: Entertains children (of all ages), makes the bear special
Disadvantages: Can take a while, not for those in a rush, add ons make it expensive

\"Build a Bear Workshop\" These stors were originally named the \"Bear Factory\". Since their name change they appear to have taken the market by storm and can now been found in most major towns and shopping centers. My local store is located in the Trafford Centre, Mancester, and although I am not able to put my finger on quite why - I always seem to find myself in the Build a Bear Shop. The shop is laid out like a "cartoon" factory, with lots ...
...work to help you create the perfect bear. These are not stitched together bits of fabric and stuffing. These are lovingly created, cuddly furry friends that you bring life to. Let me explain the process........... The initial step into this parallel universe, is through the shop door, where you leave your adult life behind and dependant on the age of the child you enter with (or if you don't the one you stand near), they will either love the new ...

The Teddy Bear brings to mind warm thoughts about our childhood, about friendship, about trust and comfort, and also about love. They are well put together and although both of mine have endured a bath in the washing machine, I have never had trouble with stitching coming undone or of either of them loosing their shape. ***Cost*** There is no doubt, you could go down and pick out a perfectly decent stuffed animal from Woolworth's or Marks and Spencer's for much less money, however, this is an investment. I love the thought of my ...
