The Reason i am writing this review is because this shop (Build a bear) Has taken over all stores from the Bear Factory and i felt i should point this out in case anyone was wondering where the Bear factory had gone or not gone if you know what i mean.
Build a bear is similar to The bear factory which sold Bears that you could buy in the shop, stuff and dress. Bear a bear shops now have a wider selection of bears/Animals to buy these include Teddy's, Pooh Bear, Hello Kitty, puppies, cats, koala, bunny's, monkeys, cow giraffe (These are all the ones i remember seeing on my visit last week). Build a bear is always bringing out new ones so keep an eye out. You can also get some limited editions. Our collection includes limited edition pudsey bear, Giraffe, Dog and Teddy. I am waiting to see if they will get a piggy one, going to make an e-mail request on this.
You can get the Bears already made up or you can get the outside of the bear and with the help of assistants stuff it yourself. You can choice if you want the bear hard or soft. You then take it over to another person who will ask you to pick out a heart which you kiss and place inside. The person will then sew up the bear. If you want a voice box (See below), you must get this before the stitching process.
Build a bear shops also include clothes for your bear, accessories, birth certificates, beds, wardrobes and so on. You can really make your bear the coolest in town. The good thing about the clothes is you can personally customise these bears as gifts for family and friends. My sons one came in a martial arts outfit as this is what he does. You could get a doctors outfit for a doctor pal, Football out fit for a footballer and so on.
How much does it cost? Well to be honest they are not cheap. A bear on its own can cost between £7.99 to £14.99, most are around the £12.99 mark but they do have sales on which is the best time to buy. Now when you start buying the extras it soon adds up. A full outfit can cost about £9.99 or more. Single items cost around £3.99 to £7 approx. My daughter brought a pair of shoes for her teddy which cost £4.99 and a bag £3 (She just loves her teddy). Bears already made up including clothes can just be brought off the shelf for £14.99 upwards depending on the teddy and clothes.
Now onto a special touch for £2.99 you can add a voice box to your build a bear, this could be A birthday song, snoring, Lullaby, happy Christmas and so on. OR the other option is to record your own message on one of the voice box's, this isn't easy to do and is best to ask an assistant for help like we did on my mother-in-laws birthday bear which now has my children saying happy birthday Nanny.(She just loved it).
You will find Build a bear shops in the following locations: Norwich (My local), Aberdeen, London, Birmingham, Bristol, bromley, Chester, Cardiff, Colchester, Glasgow, Manchester, Reading, Sheffield, West thurrock. PLUS SOME IN OTHER LOCATION. Also 3 stores in the UK a still called the BEAR FACTORY. New locations are appearing on a regular basis, look out for these on the shops website or on your travels.
Have a build a bear birthday party - Yes this is tree for £8 per person + You can have a party at build a bear, see website for more details or in store. I am thinking about this for my daughter for next year depending on finances.
On a whole we love Build a bear and visit often, it can get very addictive o be warned.
