Where I live, unfortunately the Burger King closed down because it wasn't on the best retail park in town and slightly out of the way. It was either have a choice of many including McDonalds, Subway, Pizza Hut, KFC or travel a little to the nearest Burger King, and unfortunately not many people did which forced the diner to close.
However on a little journey and stopping at the Moto services on the way, it turns out that the fast food available was Burger King. Not having one for absolutely ages but remembering that they semed to taste better than McDonalds we decided to take the plunge and opt for fast food.
You never really have queues at these places in service stations so we were able to walk up to the counter straight away and get served efficiently. We were served by a young man who was very polite and courteous, who seemed to enjoy his chosen career path and made the experience a lot more delightful, instead of the usual what can i get you, no motivation, shouting in the back, more nuggets please variety.
The menu at Burger King seems a lot more extensive than it used to be with the following options to choose from:
Original Whopper Whopper with Cheese XXl Double Whopper XXL Double WHopper with CHeese Angry Whopper Double Angry Whopper Flame Grilled Burger Hamburger BAcon Double CHeese Burger XL Bacon Double CHeese Burger Cheesburger Supreme Cheeseburger The Angus Smoked Bacon and Angus Cheddar Chicken Royale Spicy Bean Beanburger
.... well the list was endless and those are just some of the many options that I can think of.
I opted for a Bacon Double Cheese Burger, large meal meal with fries and a coke, my friend opted for an XL Double Whopper large meal with fries and Sprite.
As in many service stations, beacuse they are not so busy, the food is more than likely cooked to order to save waste, however i was amazed how quickly we were served and were seated and eating within 5 minutes.
The presentation of the burgers look as though a little more time and effort had been put into them, as normally within McDonalds you open your box and it is normally falling apart. I was very happy with the outcome that my meal actually looked like what it should look like and not a horrible mess.
The taste of Burger King also made me think that yes there are using real meat, this does taste like what it is supposed to taste like and not some sort of beef patty thrown on a bap. I did think it was mouth watering and did enjoy eating it. The fries here all also different and have a slightly savoury coating on them, instead of very bland fries the likes that KFC do, and were a pleasure to indulge in.
The only problem that i had was how much it cost, £12 for the two meals which more than likely isn't the standard price, but is for motorway service stations.
THe staff were very hot on at cleaning tables after people and used them and the cleanliness was very above average of the diner, normally you get young kids who just can't be bothered and you know there parents have made them go out to work to pay their board.
All in all, for fast food, it was very pleasant and it makes me think moreso now I wish i had travelled to keep my local Burger King in business.
