I have always been a fan of the Burnout series, so when i was promised this HD i expected something of epic proportion, unfortunatly however i keep finding myself disappointed, no matter how much i try to love it.
I have played through alot of this game, and have played alot of Burnout titles before, and when playing paradise i am frequently delighted to see exciting features from previous games brought forwards and revamped to look alot prettier, however for every upside there is a downside, The mini map and navigation systems for example, take a lot of time to adjust to, and unless you are playing in HD on a large screen (tested on a 19 inch TV with scart cable) the mini map in the bottom corner is just a blur and pretty much pointless.
As most racing Titles are going these days, Burnout has done away with selecting the race you wish to play from a list and introduced the "drive the city" way, where you have to drive around town looking for races to complete. This has its ups and its downs, YES its more realistic to if you were a "badass street racer" but its hard to keep track of which races you have completed with constantly checking your larger map. You can pull up at any junction, rev your engine and start a race, I thought this was great, you're never far away from some action and they way you enter races is just like how i do when i'm stopped at traffics revving my 1.0 diesel at the BMW next to me. Pull up at a junction...and a logo will pop up to show you the type of race that is starting from that location (of which there a numerous, many of which were featured in previous burnout games, a standard race, Road rage, Stunt race) however the only way to tell if you have already completed the race is by a tiny tick situated just beneath this logo. This is very annoying as i found myself often entering races that i had already done, so getting NO reward for them.
Burnout paradise can be discribed as visually stunning, Animations are nice Cars are modelled and finished to near perfection, the city looks good if a little bit repetative throughout.
As for longevity, if you are willing to stick to it, there are hundreds of things to do, smashing billboards, taking mean stunts, discovering new locations to fix up your car, as well as plenty of races in their various forms, and MASSIVE online content. But alot of these are kind of "can i be bothered" gameplay, and to be honest, No i couldnt be bothered.
Burnout paradise doesnt use any form of monetary system, completing races allows you to upgrade you paradise city drivers license, and completing specific challenges unlocks cars. Another nice little feature is that most of the cars that you can collect (65 in all) are unlocked to be released on the road. You will then see these cars driving around and you can smash them up with you car. All of your cars are stored at the Junk yard, so where do Trashed cars go? straight to you. Something that doesnt really make a difference to the game, but i thought was just pretty nice, and a good thought out little idea.
Over all its a pretty solid driving game, with plenty of highs but its own variety of lows.
Advantages: Graphics, free roaming, great cars Disadvantages: Can get a tad monotonous
Burnout paradise is hands down the best burnout game released! No, I'm not just saying that because it's the most recent one to be released, I'm saying that because it's the truth!
I feel that the series lost its way a bit and each new release was simply the same as the previous one but with better graphics and a few more small bits to justify the price tag. Burnout Paradise, however, changes all that.
Straight from the main page you get a taster ... ...and the rest of the burnout series is that this one is completely free roaming and tasks are undertaken by going to a specific area on the map instead of just selecting it from the menu. This can work in a good or bad way. Good because it encompasses the whole free roaming this but bad because, if you muck up, it means you have to go all the way back to its position to try again. Personally, I prefer it this way.
The free roaming element works hand ...

Advantages: Awesome racing game - massive city Disadvantages: Overwhelming at first
Burnout Paradise is the most recent racing (and crashing) game in quite a long series of great, well structured arcade racing games.
However this one certainly breaks away from the norm and enters into this new 'open-world gameplay', and in my opinion they have certainly succeeded and have created a massive 30km wide city perfectly suited to Burnout's nature - to race and crash!
At first the city can be very overwhelming particularly if you were ... ...and aim to get the Burnout Licence and rove you are the best driver. The better your licence the better cars you can unlock and more challenges can be participated in.
If you don't fancy doing any of these races then you can always roam around Paradise City and try and destroy some of those billboards (120) or crash gates (400), or even complete some of the famous stunt jumps (50). If that doesn't take your fancy you can try and set some time records ...

Advantages: Epic Gameplay, Great Graphics, Wealth of Events, Excellent Online Multiplayer Disadvantages: Stunt Run game mode, No Splitscreen
Burnout Paradise is the fifth game in the series of Burnout games but this is the first game to implement free roam into the game system. Firstly, the free roam system that has been included into this game must have given the people at Criterion Games a headache and I was expecting the game to come out as a kind of Need for Speed free roam rip-off. This however doesn't happen, the way how you are involved in the free roam straight from the start ... ...in the city. Burnout Paradise is also a quick adrenaline filled game with lots of fast paced action. The art-deco world is perfectly sculpted with a jump or stunt opportunity every few hundred meters. This world is also home to many hundreds of collectibles, they are Jumps, Smashes and Billboards. These collectibles are scattered around the city waiting to be discovered but will take a keen eye to spot and a skilful gamer with a lot of spare time ...

Advantages: Stunning visuals, Solid Multiplayer, 60fps, Long Lifespan Disadvantages: Slightly Repetitive, Can seem a tad long
Burnout Paradise, the latest iteration in the Burnout series lets players race, crash and generally cause road rage in the fictional streets of Paradise City, but is it any good?
Burnout Paradise has a very simple structure for progress. Race, Win, Progress. This might seem like the game is very boring, it is however quite a fun, thrilling game, that when given the added benefit of Online multiplayer make for a very fun game indeed.
The way Burnout ... ...has done very well with Burnout Paradise is implement multiplayer into the game. With a quick tap of the directional-pad you can bring up your friend list, and invite them to your game, or join theirs, making getting into a multiplayer game very quick and painless.
Multiplayer in Burnout Paradise is a lot of fun, giving you and 7 friends the opportunity to race, cruise or cause mayhem together in Paradise City. If you get tired of causing chaos, ...
