Advantages: Stylish. Good Value For Money. Great Ride and Handling. Disadvantages: Jerky Drive. Dreadful Gearbox. Very Poor Rear Visibility. No Spare Wheel.
...WHAT IS IT?
The current, space age looking, Honda Civic is now becoming a familiar sight on our roads. Indeed, I think even Honda have been taken by surprise by its popularity.
At 4250mm in length it is a refreshingly compact competitor in the ever expanding family hatchback market, indeed it is a few mm shorter than its immediate predecessor, which was less roomy inside. The tardis trick has been partially pulled off by Honda abandoning their much praised fully independent rear suspension system, in favour of a much cheaper, lighter and more space efficient torsion beam arrangement.
That technical detail will mean little to the majority reading this, the press however were highly critical that, thanks to this change, the Honda would no longer be good to drive, would not ride well and generally would not live up to its sleek...

Advantages: Smooth Engine, Handling, Refinement Disadvantages: Pricey Parts
...I have a thing for BMWs. I don’t know why, I just do. Ever since I placed my backside in my Uncle’s 3-series coupe I have been an addict – stupid as it may sound. It had a Schnitzer bodykit with big alloys and had some serious power hidden beneath, he doesn’t have it anymore but the memory of the car remains. Fast in a straight line, and serious fast through corners, but all done very quietly and smoothly. In my words, it was just right! It felt right, and looked right.
So the blue and white roundel grew and grew on me, until I would spend hours at a time on the internet looking at pictures and technical stuff on the cars. I even know the BM E-number now! E36, E39, E46…..sado!
This is now my third BMW but my first 5-series. If you read reports on the latest generation of 5-series (1996 onwards…...

Advantages: Fantastic Service, Not Ripped Off Disadvantages: None
...I had a car accident at the start of this year, quite literally i got home just after new years, and so when it came to get a car and start driving again, my insurance was sky high being 19 and having crashed. I had my eye on a peugeot 306 1.4 and so with a low insurance group and the car only being worth £1000 I was shocked to find most insurance companies quoting me over £2500 per year. It doesnt sound much for car insurance but the hard truth hits home when you work that out to be £6.84 per day. Ridiculous, I could pay for a personal chauffer for not much more.
Anyway I eventually stumbled upon Norwich Union who I thought were going to rip me off too, but surprisingly quoted me a very low (Comparitively) £1800 which I snapped up, and although even this proved too high a price for me with then having to cancel the insurance, Norwich...
