Well, it all began when Burt and his friend Roxanne move from the noisy New York City to a quite town of Gulford, Maine and Burt decided to start beekeeping. For the first few years Burt and Roxanne were famous for their candles and lip balm that proved to be very popular among locals. Every year their business grew as well as the range of products.

Now they offer beautifully created cosmetic ranges that take care of the skin, lips, body, and hair, as well as make-up products, baby products (the range is sweetly called “Baby Bee”), and natural remedies.

Burt’s Bees products do not contain any artificial ingredients, colourings and preservatives that may harm your skin. They are 100% natural and not tested on animals. The packaging is recyclable.

Well, last weekend I saw Burt’s Bees display in our local Lloyds Pharmacy and went over to try and smell some of the products. I soon found myself looking at a small glass jar with a cream lid that said “ALMOND milk beeswax hand crème” The word “almond” was enough to get me interested. I love the smell of almond essence. It’s such a wonderful fragrance and also reminds me of almond croissants, which I adore with all my heart and, well, every drop of my stomach juice. :)

I opened the jar and inhaled a wonderful aroma… Mmmmmm It was lovely. Nothing else said – I simply bought it, without even trying.

Well, now I had my 57ml jar of almond oil hand crème but parted with £9.25 (I know, I know, a bit expensive… ) However, after I came home, I went on-line and saw that you can actually buy Burt’s Bees products on the net for “normal” prices. The best prices are still on their US web-site (my hand crème costs 8USD there) but they don’t ship internationally. If you have friends in the States or you travel there, consider yourself lucky.

HOW THE PRODUCT WORKS.

The crème contains vitamin E, almond oil and aloe vera, that keep your hands soft and smooth and prevents first signs of aging.

HOW TO USE

Place your finger on a surface of the cream. The heat from your fingertip will melt some amount of the product, so it is easier to apply it on your hands and nails. This hand crème does not have a consistency of a regular cream and looks more like a balm. The smell is quite strong but so wonderful I don’t mind it at all. Actually, I made my husband laugh when he found me sitting with an open jar and smelling it… Sorry but it’s addictive if you, like me, are a bit crazy about the almond fragrance.

Because this crème contains some vegetable fat you can smell it a little but it soon disappears.

MY EXPERIENCE

I personally thought that this product takes a bit longer to be absorbed than a regular hand crème, so try it in a shop before you buy. Hands do feel smooth and silky afterwards and the cuticles are well-moisturised.

The little jar will last you for months as you only need a small amount, so don’t be put off by the size of the product. Burt’s Bees always make their products this small because as they don’t contain any artificial preservatives, their shelf life is shorter than the one of regular creams and lotions.

WHOULD I CONSIDER BUYING IT AGAIN?

Yes, I think so. But next time I will try to find it on-line as £9.25 is still a bit more than I would be happy to pay for a hand creme on a regular basis.

IMPORTANT

Burt’s Bees haven’t been allergy tested as it goes against their company policy. They strongly believe that any allergy is more likely to be caused by chemical ingredients rather than those created by nature.
