I have been using Bert's bees, beeswax lip balm for about 15 years. As a brand they promote natural products and do not use any ingredient that has not been proven safe. They use time tested proven recipes that all contain Beeswax. Beeswax is a natural emulsifier; which simply means that it is the main product that binds all the other ingredients together; the glue. I love it when products use natural ingredients and it was one of the main reasons that first attracted me to this brand.

About the product

This lip balm comes in an 8.5g tin. I love the classic designs of these little tins. They invoke the image natural traditional products and the air tight tin keeps the lip balm fresh for every time you need it. Sometimes the lids are a little tricky to get off; especially if you don't have any nails however this no different from other brands of tinned lip salves. Another problem I have experienced is getting the product onto your finger! The consistency of the balm is quite solid and you need to rub your finger across it to warm it up so that it softens and is able to be transferred to your lips. I often end up digging bits up with my nail by accident. For this reason I have started buying the push up stick. Then I don't need to worry about this and in winter you don't have to take your gloves off to apply it!
This lip balm feels wonderful on your lips and is fantastic when they are little chapped from the winter elements. I get horrendous chapped lips when it is windy and so always keep a tin of this balm in my handbag. The balm is loaded with coconut and sunflower oils that sooth dry lips and get them moisturised for hours. Sunflower oil is rich in vitamins and fatty acids. They nourish, and soften lips making them feel smooth and conditioned. The Beeswax in the balm seals in hydration making the lips stay subtle and conditioned for longer. I've had lip balms in the past that feel heavy and oily on my lips whereas Bert's bees feels light and soft.

My favourite ingredient in the lip balm is the peppermint oil. This gives your lips a tingle and makes them feel revitalised. It makes my whole mouth feel fresher.

How to Use It

Apply the balm liberally to your lips as often as needed. I usually apply more when out in dry, cold or windy conditions. The best thing about this lip balm is that it you can add your lips stick or gloss over the top and use it as a primer. It coats the lips leaving them smooth and soft and ready for a lashing of colour. The balm on its own doesn't look too glossy or "wet" I like this as it means it is perfect for wearing at work.

Where to buy it and how much

Most good pharmacies sell it and it is widely available on the internet. It retails in Boots for £3.50. This seems quite a lot for a small product however it does last well as you only need a small amount for the desired effect.

Finally

I would recommend this product but recently I have discovered the pop up lip stick version which I find much easier to apply.
