::::INTRODUCTION:::: Burton is part of the Arcadia Retail group, which has many fashion retailers such as TopMan and the rest are women's like TopShop, Dorethy Perkins, Wallis, Evans and Miss Selfridge.
The first store was opened in 1903 by Montague Burton, after borrowing £100 from a relitave to open the cross-tailoring company in Chesterfield. His aim was "Good clothes for a mans self-respect". This continues today with modern and stylish clothing with usually a dedicated suit area in the store and a good selection of footwear and accessories.
::::HISTORY:::: At the start of World War 1 Burton changed to start producing Armed Forces uniforms' instead of suits. These unfiroms made by Burton clothed nearly a quarter of all service men and women during The Great War.
Mr Burton recieved a Knight-hood in 1931 for his efforts in "furthering industrial relations and international peace." He was appointed Justice of the Peace, a post which he held for many years.
His ambition was not just to clothe the nation but to also give his employee's a higher quality of life.
On of World War 2 Burton started to produce unfiroms for the troops once again. After the War Burton produced a suit for the verterans nick-named "The Full Monty".
Then in 1952 Sir Montague Burton passed away. At the time of his death, Burton was the largest multiple tailor in the world. Arcadia then became the new corprate name for the House of Burton in 1967.
::::TODAY:::: Today's Burton is for the fashionable men, like had has been since it started. For men who take an interest in the way they look - in recent years this has become known as "metro-sexual" meaning fashion concious, carries a man-bag and uses 'make-up' (from Hair Gel to Eye liner). This is of-course just stereotism!
Burton make very high quality suits, ranging from £60-£200. In the sale they can go down to the £20 mark! Burton also sell "Skinny Ties" which are targeted at people who don't want a big tie, it is also more 'fashionable' then a simple plain black normal sized tie. Burtons quality of shirts match that of their suit's, and start from £20 and can come with or without a skinny/tie. They also sell trousers (of-course!) and shoes to go with the brilliant produced suits.
::::DAY-2-DAY CLOTHING:::: What differs Burton from TopMan to me is really Burton sell more clothes I'd wear, whereas TopMan sell some good clothes but some of their stuff I wouldn't like to be seen dead in! Burton on the other-hand is different, I love their buttoned T-Shirts, unlike normal T-Shirts with buttons these have a more 'natural' feel to them and don't make you feel itchy (or maybe it's just me...)! For those colder days or months they sell cardigans which doesn't sound manly, but can look very nice over a shirt and tie (basically, the cardigan replaces the blazer) and a pair of jeans (I prefer black)!
They also sell shoes, which are again comnfortable and although they are designed as 'sports shoes' they are too fashionale for running around in the mud in my opinion!
::::CONCLUSION:::: Burton is a great fashion retailer for men with friendly & helpful staff. The stoers have a modern and bright layout making what you're looking for easy to find. I prefer getting my stuff out of the sales though, as paying £20 for a pair of shoes a month before the sales when there £7 doesn't seem too wise...

Advantages: A great range of products Disadvantages: none
Burton’s have come through many rough patches just recently and proved that they are one of the best contenders for Men’s fashion both on the high street and On-line.
They have started many new lines, which in my opinion offer a much superior quality to some of the other leading high street names around. Burton’s staff are also very friendly and helpful, not to mention that always eager to find the best product for you.
Ok, as ... ...ranges available on a budget not to mention for the higher prices. They have all sorts to choose from, suits, casual, formal, sports and many different accessories for all your fashion needs. They have also started a vast range of initiatives that have allowed smaller, unknown designers to develop products and be sold nation-wide through all Burton’s stores. I have picked up several descent outfits that would have cost much more from other ...

I would just like to write a review on the Burtons men's clothing shop, one that I visit quite regularly for reasons that we shall soon see. My local shop is based on two floors, with the grouond floor holding casual wear (shirts and t-shrts; jeans or more casual trousers; underwear and so on), whereas the first floor sells shoes and suits (but when I say shoes I mean everything from flip flops to proper suit types shoes). In my own opinion, the ... ...goods is not very overcrowded. Yes, the shop is not a very big one but it helps in having two floors in which to sell things. In terms of the range and variety of clothes that they sell, there are things to cater for all tastes from the more outrageous or flambouyant items that are all the rage and fashino today to the more plain and simple things for those people who may just wish to have something to wear around the house. The prices of things ...

Advantages: Good selections Disadvantages: Not well laid out in shop
Since fashion became something to be more conscious about for me, (few years ago) I thought it would be a good idea to make sure I knew what the different Men’s stores around my local area were like. Burtons is quite an established store, for men only, (although my mum does go in when she's looking for my Christmas presents etc) and does offer quite a good range in the latest fashions. It has a good selection of Jeans, both its own brand, and ... ...and jumpers, all quite suitable for the young men of today to wear out on the streets.
Burtons also has a good selection of clothes for going out in. The selection of shirts is good, quite a wide range from the near-Hawaiian shirts for the summer, to the long sleeved cotton shirts. The smart trousers aren't of the best quality, but there is a good range, including plenty of styles and colours.
The suits are excellent. As well as their own branded ...

Advantages: Good Range, Good Quality, Good Prices Disadvantages: None
A great shop for men. Great value, great quality, good range, friendly staff. That just about sums up my opinion of the Burtons Mensware shops in the UK. Now I've got to try and pad this thing out to make 90 words.
Joking aside I have honestly given my opinion in the first sentence, but what leads me to this conclusion? I have shopped at Burtons both man and boy and have always been very pleased with their products. On the rare ocassion I have had ... ...help and replaced or refunded without question. I have always found what I have been looking for and paid a reasonable price.
Sale time is always good too and there are some excellent bargains to be found.
I have also used their hire facility to hire out dinner suits and found this service to also be excellent in both cost and quality.
Well done Burtons. I'll keep on shopping there. ...

Advantages: Large range of cheap smart clothes Disadvantages: none
Burtons is just the sort of place I always seem to end up in when I go shopping. Its not that I really buy that much stuff there (I'm a bit scruffy most of the time), but just being there is something you have to do.
The shop has a very classy image when compared to others in the high street. They sell some real quality clothes at some very reasonable prices. If I was to be buying anything at all smart, I'd always head straight for Burtons. I bought ... ...helpful. After just a second of looking through their stock, a woman approached me to see if she could help. I obviously did need a bit of help because I hadn't needed a nice suit before. She took all the necessary measurements and I was actually out of the shop again fairly quickly. I also bought some shirts, ties and a pair of shoes that day. She didn't try and push me in to buying all this stuff like some places do. She gave her honest opinions ...

Advantages: Wondeful staff - lol Disadvantages: some find it pricy
be well stocked departments offering clothes for men, women and children as well as a home department selling everything from designer forks to bed linen. On the designer front, many of the designs from famous names such as Jasper Conran, Pierce Fionda and Antoni and Allison are unique to the store.
there might well be a sports department stocked not only with appropriate attire but also equipment (from dumbells to tredmills) and diet supplements.
there will be a Customer Accounts dept (where I work) where you can pay off you store card (and, at the moment, also pay off cards for stores such as Dorothy Perkins, Burtons and Top Shop) and they might well also be a gift wrapping service. If you're from outside the EU (and reading this? Maybe not that likely....) this is also the dept where you can apply for your VAT refund ...

Topshop
Topshop is a chain of ladies clothing shops that is part of the Arcadia Group that is also responsible for Burtons, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Evans, Wallis and Outfit stores. The shop is aimed at young and trendy women and is also popular with a lot of stars.
Topshop is a very well known store and has been around for a long time, certainly all of my life. Topshop have recently started to stock designer names such as Stella Vine and Kate Moss.
Topshop clothes are definatlety aimed at the younger female with designs in the shop very soon after they have been on the catwalk.
The store sells standard size clothes (6-16) but also caters for petite, tall and more recently maternity. the also sell shoes, underwear, and acessories such as bags and sunglasses.
I shop only occasionally now in Topshop as I often find ...
Advantages: Bright and airy, spacious, plenty of free parking, easy to get to Disadvantages: No creche facility,
Silverburn Shopping Centre, Glasgow opened its doors on Thursday 25 October 2007 with less than half of its 95 shopping units open for business. This sparkling new shopping centre has risen from the 'ashes' of the very dilapidated Pollok Centre on the south side of Glasgow. First impressions were not too good due to the number of unoccupied shops, however on my second visit there was a clear improvement as more shops had opened. All the usual high street suspects are there: Debenhams, M & S, Next (biggest branch in Scotland) Burtons - Top Shop, Top Man, etc, as well as some more exclusive names like Lime Blue (jewellery), Kurt Geiger, Hobbs.
On approaching Silverburn via junction 2 of the M77, the shopping centre looks quite spectacular - all shiny and silver! There is a Tesco Extra store attached to it which opened in 2006. Car parks ...
