Advantages 10% discount on first purchase and special offers

Disadvantages High APR

I have shopped in Burtons now for about ten years, I mostly like the style of clothes that they offer and their suits traditionally are very good quality.

About two years ago I applied for their store card and was accepted, the original store card was little more than a credit card and so although it was useful it really did not have any added value.

After about a year they sent me in the post a nice new shiny GOLD CARD

The benefits of this card are several but perhaps the best is the ability to have the suits you buy from them altered to fit, Free of Charge.

I brought a nice Dinner suit from them for an office do and after the alterations it fit perfectly. The store seemed a little confused when I asked for the alterations but made up for it with the speed of the service. They even delivered locally to me.

The interest rates are like all cards up in the sky somewhere but the service connected with the card is excellent.

Burtons Gold Card – Additional information

Interest rate is currently 28% APR and on a £1,000 balance you pay about £60 per month which is very roughly £30 off your balance.

You can use your card to shop-online with Burtons and they have a nice on-line catalogue. At http://www.burtonmenswear.co.uk

Your reward/loyalty points are accumulated at £1 per point but I have not figured out how to actualise these yet.

Also as a Gold Card customer you get regular special offers that are not filtered down to the standard card, and better still you do not have to take the vouchers into the store!!

The Card can be managed via the telephone and the customer services are normally very good, you can do everything from request an account balance enquiry to a credit limit increase.

The Card is issued by GE Capital Bank, and Burton stores are a part of the Arcadia Group, which means you can use your card to buy suits and stuff at Oswald Boateng stores and Sporting Green and Top Man as well as a number of Ladies fashion stores (has helped me out of trouble with Mrs Slunk)

NEW UPDATE
I recently lost my Gold Card, I was distraught and called to get it suspended, I then found it again and called back and they un-suspended it a week later. That is good service!!

Good op - but definitely a card that needs to be paid off when the bill comes in, nasty very vyer high interest rates and around roughly 6 times an introductory credit card rate, and nearly double the new breed of cards standard interest rates - ouch! Sue

A good op. I was awarded a GOLD CARD from Burtons after a year of having a normal card, so maybe its a burtons thing. However, they do have some great clothes (and some not so great ones). Thanks - Dave
