I love Burts Bees products - love them. It's a great company with lovely products. And I was using some of the baby range (Baby Bee) long before I had a baby. When we were expecting our son, I went out and bought a few bits so we would have some toiletries ready for when we started using anything but warm water and cotton wool on his peachy new skin.

We knew we'd be going back and forth between our house and various relatives' houses for stays and I thought a cleansing bar would be useful for traveling because it couldn't spill in the same way as a bottle of baby wash. I bought this particular one mainly because it smells so fabulous. It's got that sweet, milky, powdery smell that makes you want to bite the chubby thighs of any baby wearing it. Before the baby arrived, I used the soap to scent the drawer-full of his clothes that we had bought in anticipation.

Unfortunately it seems it was better as a room-scent than as a soap... On the up-side, it is quite a hard bar of soap so will last for a long time. It's reasonably-priced, especially if you buy on-line. It smells just as delicious applied to a baby as it does in the yellow paper wrapper. However, we found that it was slightly drying on our son's skin. This is a huge shame for me, as I really wanted to love it.

A 3.5 oz bar will cost between £6 and £9, depending on where you buy it. This product is 98.47% natural (another thing I love about BB is their quirky product information!). Ingredients are: vegetable soap base, gylcerin, buttermilk powder, oatmeal flour and fragrance. Despite the standard blurb from Caio it does NOT contain honey. It's OK for vegetarians but not suitable for vegans because of the buttermilk.

I would still really recommend the talc-free dusting powder and the apricot baby oil - they are fantastic products. But this one didn't really do it for us, though believe it or not I'd still be tempted to buy one and just sit there sniffing it! I would JUST still recommend it, as our son does have sensitive skin, and I suspect many parents/babies would use this with great pleasure.

PS As usual, the specific categories are bonkers and unhelpful. How on earth do I rate the "comfort" of a bar of soap?!
