Another one of my little Burt’s Bees product this hand salve is one my favourites. It comes in a cute 0.30oz tin as it’s a trial size; the full size tin is 0.60oz. The tin is silver in colour and has a yellow label featuring Burt himself.
The tin is easy enough to open, it is so easy in fact that I was worried it would come open in my bag but this has never happened in several months of use.
The smell is so lovely. It has a strong medicinal smell which I love. It’s no wonder it smells so great; it contains almond oil, olive oil, beeswax, Vitamin E, comfrey root extract, rosemary, lavender and eucalyptus! I have the tin in front of me and I just can’t stop sniffing it.
The texture is waxy but soft enough to be able to apply easily. As soon as it meets the warmth of your skin it melts allowing it to soak into the skin reasonably quickly. Having said that it does make your hands feel a little greasy for about 10 minutes and it will leave greasy marks on things like paper. I generally just use this before bed or when I am watching TV in the evening.
After one use my hands felt so much softer; I had developed an annoying patch of dry skin on my right palm and this made it vanish overnight. Any hint of tightness in my skin was gone too. This is one fast working product!
For those of you unfamiliar with Burt’s Bees, their website is great and full of really interesting information. I will tell you that they use natural products, (this hand salve is 98.05% natural), where possible and spend a lot of time and money researching ways to turn lovely natural things into fabulous products. Their packing is often made from recycled material and they don’t test on animals.
I can’t recommend this product enough to anyone with problem skin in their hands. For normal, healthy hands though I think this would be over-kill and another product would be more suitable.
