Advantages: Decent range of different attachments for all sorts of processing Disadvantages: Although about the standard size, doesn't have a massive capacity
...adequately from the blade nor stay on well), as well as a funky cirtus juicer, a thingy for grating or slicing cheese or veg. There is also a mixer blade and a thing for whisking, which I can't claim to have tried cos it only says it can cope with a limited range of things (like egg white).
As you would expect, it makes a satisfying, but not deafening whirring sound when blending -and you can turn it on continuously or pulse as and when you please.
It is the standard 0.8litre capacity, which I have to confess I find a little dainty for days when I have too many carrots left over and am batching up soup. But, the blades cope well even with frozen foods like ice cubes or bananas (top tip: for instant banana ice-cream simply slice2 bananas lengthways, freeze for 6 hrs, blend and serve. Amazingly yummy and no added sugar or rubbish!).
Best of all...

Advantages: Cheaper than the bread it cooks Disadvantages: Cannot be left to its own devices
...Absolutely basic. Built down to the price, and should be used accordingly. Only takes small medium slices of bread, otherwise the top of the slice laughs at you whilst the remainder is subject to too much heat-a result, I think, of the slots being too narrow. This means that thick slices will not fit, and the heating elements are close enough to the bread to render the variable browning knob totally redundant. Put on it's highest, it will incinerate the contents within two minutes.
If you only have a few quid, and need your toast , follow a simple routine- always use the lowest setting, and stand over the toaster while it cooks. Be prepared to use the miniscule stop button, or just switch off at the mains. That way, you'll get your money's worth....

Advantages: Looks the Business, Makes Proper Toast Disadvantages: Difficult to Control, Uses a lot of Power, Two Breakdowns
...I have always wanted one of these toasters ever since I was a kid. They remind me of 1950's USA Chic along with Cadillac's, Ice Cream Parlours & Rock 'n' Roll. The thing is at almost £100 can you very justify spending this on a toaster, particularly when you can buy perfectly adequate ones for less than a fiver.
Well the answer is yes... sort of
They come in eight colours, White, Red, Cream. Light Blue, Yellow, Mint, Stainless, & especially for Barbie, Pink. There is a four-slice version & some odd reason a three slicer as well. In the centre of the coloured panels is a Stainless steel centre panel that is a pig to keep clean (looks great when it is though)
This is quite big with dimensions of 22.0x21.0x26.0 (H/W/D) cm
The variable browning control on the front is graduated from 0 to 4 although we have found that 2 works just...

With monotonous regularity our toasters ‘die’ every two years. The last one was no different, having ejected 4 slices of toast most mornings for its brief life. If the white goods industry goes for a 5-year cycle of obsolescence by... more
