Advantages: Cheaper than the bread it cooks Disadvantages: Cannot be left to its own devices
...Absolutely basic. Built down to the price, and should be used accordingly. Only takes small medium slices of bread, otherwise the top of the slice laughs at you whilst the remainder is subject to too much heat-a result, I think, of the slots being too narrow. This means that thick slices will not fit, and the heating elements are close enough to the bread to render the variable browning knob totally redundant. Put on it's highest, it will incinerate the contents within two minutes.
If you only have a few quid, and need your toast , follow a simple routine- always use the lowest setting, and stand over the toaster while it cooks. Be prepared to use the miniscule stop button, or just switch off at the mains. That way, you'll get your money's worth....

...I won my Dualit toaster.
I thought it looked good with a great chrome finish.
When I unpacked it I noticed that it takes up much more space than an average toaster.
It has a switch for one or two slices. It also has a timer on it so you can decide exactly how long you want your toast cooked for. I find it needs 2 minutes for the first slice and then 1 1/2 minutes for future slices (once it has warmed up).
It does indeed make good toast, but then so do most toasters! You can fit quite wide slices in and it has a crumb tray underneath that works fine.
I don't often get slices stuck in it, but because the slots are quite wide it is fairly easy to free anything that does get stuck (without resorting to sharp objects).
Overall a good toaster, although oversized and over priced...

My kind of toaster Review ofDelonghi CT02 2slice S/less Steel Toasterby
benson10
Advantages: A toaster that works well Disadvantages: Delonghi stamped on side in large letters
...I find toasters to be a bit of a pain and when my last one failed I was keen to find one that did the job well and looked as though it would do so reliably for a good deal of time.
The Delonghi has lived up to its promise for over a year now and I have absolutely no hessitation in recommending it to anybody.
It has a number of features that I find important -
It takes both thick and thin bread.
It has deep slots.
It can cope with one only slice.
It can cope with frozen slices.
The controls are easy to use.
There is a facility to eject slices ahead of time.
There is a device for lifting slices to avoid the need to go digging about in the slots.
The toaster is easy to keep clean and always looks well even if it seams a bit unnecessary to have the brand name embossed in big letters on the side.
I trawled the market and found John...

With monotonous regularity our toasters ‘die’ every two years. The last one was no different, having ejected 4 slices of toast most mornings for its brief life. If the white goods industry goes for a 5-year cycle of obsolescence by... more
