Advantages: Powerful, light Disadvantages: The pipe broke!
...?
Not really, except that I don't generally like items that have "Bush" written on them (or items that have "Hitler" or "Stalin" written on them... but you don't see so many of those). Still, the company were around before the lunatic, so it's not their fault.
It is a bit noisy, or at least I think so- but do you really expect to be able to listen to music or TV or the radio really well whilst vacuuming? I'm sure there are quieter models than this on the market, but whilst it's far from quiet it's also not the noisiest I've had to put up with.
So all in all, well worth getting. Most importantly, it does the job (does it very well in fact, as several lifted carpets can testify... or would if they weren't carpets)....

Advantages: Extra length cord, vertical steam, safety switch off, low price,............I could go on and on Disadvantages: Temperature control button may be pressed accidentally.

Advantages: Compact, very easy to use and read, 10 year guarantee Disadvantages: None
...clean and possibly trapping moisture and leading to rust.
The electronic models are sometimes fashion statements, which frankly doesn't interest me. Sometimes they claim to measure body fat, again something of no interest (in any case, I wouldn't trust the measurement, surely it depends on how thick your skin is and whether it's dry or wet?). Some models have a clock - who looks at their scales when they want to know the time? They can also be difficult to read although some have a separate read out that you can fix on the wall at eye level. Not suitable for me as the scales are under a window.
Hunting around John Lewis' store, I noticed the Salter 9030. Brilliant ! Why? Only 32cm square, white plastic top with no raised edges. Reads in pounds, stones and pounds, or kilograms, preselected by a sliding switch underneath. The LED display...
