We had wanted a new television for a while but couldn't bring ourselves to spend a lot of money when there was nothing wrong with the old widescreen JCV television that we had. It was a 28 inch screen, but the depth of the television was huge and it was so heavy to carry.........

Shortly after moving in to our new house, my husband managed to drop this television, meaning that it no longer worked!! The look on my face was a picture when I heard the crash and went rushing into the living room to find a sheepish husband and a broken tv.

So now our hand was forced into buying a new tv! We duly put in an insurance claim and was offered £264 less £50 excess, so off to Comet and Currys we go, but we don't find anything that we like, so then its back home again and we search the internet.

We looked at Argos online and found this end of line 27" widescreen lcd flat television and just had to buy it. The only trouble was, that being end of line meant that you could not order it for delivery, so I did a search of all my local stores until I found one and we reserved it for collection the next day.

My husband came home with the tv, we unpacked it and installed it so easily, it was a dream.

The Techinical description of this television in the Argos catalogue is Bush LCD27TV005 27in Widescreen LCD TV.

The Argos order number is: 529/2150 and we paid £399.99. From what I have read online, this television was retailing at around £600 originially, but at the moment, all of the LCD televisions seem to be 26 or 30/32 inches, so it looks like they are phasing out the 27" ones.

The television is silver in colour and the speakers are each end of the television screen and are the full height of the television.

TELEVISION DETAILS
++++++++++++++++++

The screen is 27in (66cm) with a visible screen size of 66cm and screen resolution is 1280 x 768 pixels.

The television has Nicam stereo sound with 2 x 7w RMS output.

The television comes with Fastext which is great for flicking through teletext quickly.

The tuner is UHF/VHFand has auto setup and auto search. This means that you can literally plug and play as it searches so quickly/

The television also comes with sleep timer and child lock and also has a headphone socket which is handy.

There is a rear AV socket and 2 SCART sockets which are essential if you also have dvd/video/sky/freeview boxes.

The actual dimensions of the television are (Height)40.2, (Width)78.8, (Depth)21.5cm and the weight is 12.9kg.

The television has a nice blue standby light, which makes a change from the boring red ones that most tv's have.

The television is suitable for wall mounting and we were told that brackets are sold separately, but we found some in our box, so which is the mistake I don't know!

The remote control comes with batteries provided and is slimline and very easy to use.

SETUP
++++++

My husband took the television out of the box, connected it to our various applicances and then stood it on the tv cabinet. He then switched it on and with the help of the remote control managed to install all 5 channels within minutes.

The television is not too heavy and is easy to move around. It has a long stand with feet that help to balance it out.

The remote control is great and it comes with an easy to understand guide book

SAFETY
+++++++

My only concern with the television is that we have three cats who are always tearing around the room and I am afraid that they will jump on to the television cabinet and jump up at the screen and knock it over. One of the cats used to sleep on the old television, but obviously our new slimline one isn't wide enough for that! He seems to realise that though (so far)...........

This one has brackets to fix it to the wall, but these are flat fixing brackets and our tv is currently across the corner so that we can watch it from different sides of the room, so we will need to get corner brackets for the wall if we decide to put it up there, which would keep it out of the reach of the cats!

We now switch all of our applicances off at night so that they are not left on standby so that we can save money/the planet.

PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The sound is excellent, much better than our old television which was a bit muffled an unbalanced. If you were watching a programme quite often the "background" noise was louder than the people talking! Music sounds good when on a music channel and the sound is always crisp and you can clearly hear channels.

Picture quality is excellent, very sharp, although I have noticed some pixellating, but this seems to be on certain adverts mainly, I have no idea why!

The screen size of 27" is an inch smaller than we had previously, but we have not noticed any difference in the picture.

OVERALL
+++++++++

Overall, I would highly recommend this television. It is cheap for what it is and is excellent quality. The only downside for some people would be that it is not HD ready and you can get some models for an extra £50 or £100 that are HD ready. This didn't bother us as you have to pay extra on Sky to get HD channels, so we aren't going to worry about it for now. Also, you can buy a model LCD27TV006 that has got Freeview builit in for £500.

So if Argos have got any stock left, go and buy one now!
