Initial observations, opinions and the startup.....
After unpacking and plugging in the television it was time for the intial test. The power button on the front of the television sits centrally on the bottom of the televions and is neatly marked with an ice blue coloured light that adds nicely to the aesthetics of the television. With the trusty old bedroom CRT television begining to show its age , it became obvious that, along with the impending switch off of the analogue signal, a new, digital ready TV was next on the list of things to buy.

Terminology and a tight budget.....
Having very little experience with televisions with screens bigger than 14 inches, I was faced with a myriad of terminology concerning brightness, contrast ratio and resolution. However, technology aside, I was also up against a tight budget of £320 or less. Now, whereas previous television sets could be picked up from less than £100, it soon became apparent that this wouldn't be the case in todays market where digital ready and HD models are the norm. Thus it was more a case of getting value for money from the budget sets than taking a pick from the cream of the crop.

Screen size......
Having looked at a number of flat panel TVs with screen sizes ranging from 15 to 32 inches, I decided to upgrade my normal screen size from 15 inches to 26 inches in order to provide that home cinema feel in a relatively small room. While large screens were also appealing, a combination of a tight budget (see above) and a small room with which the set would be located, forced my hand into the sub 32 inch category.

Initial observations, opinions and the startup.....
After unpacking and plugging in the television it was time for the intial test. The power button on the front of the television sits centrally on the bottom of the televions and is neatly marked with an ice blue coloured light that adds nicely to the aesthetics of the television. ON the rear of the unit, a removable panel provides a cover for two SCART sockets, meaning that a DVD player and one other external device can be plugged in simulateously. Once the SCART plugs have been fitted, the removable cover can be replaced, thus ensuring the back of the set remains tidy. At the base of the TV there is a small stand that enables the unit to be placed on a flat surface. Conversely, by removing four small screws, the stand can be removed enabling wall mounting of the unit (fittings on the back of the TV allow most wall mounted fittings to be screwed on).

Upon turning the tv on, the digital channel search facility starts up and, provided a digital signal is present, all channels should be found fairly easily. For those that do not have a digital signal, the system follows up with an automatic analogue tuner.

Final Verdict.....
Having never owned another HD, LCD TV, I cannot directly compare this TV with other, higher priced models. On my limited experience with LCD TVS, I would say that, in my opinion, the picture quality is on a par with many of the more expensive sets and all-in-all, the fact that this television is very easy to set up and the aesthetics are very pleasing I would recomend this TV to other people.
