Principles of Marketing
Review of Principles of Marketing - Stephen Pettitt, Frances Brassington by kags1971

Advantages: Very easy to read, good examples
Disadvantages: heavy!!

I bought this book in 2003 for a Foundation course in Business. I only studied one unit in Marketing but had to write a marketing report for a company of my choice and this book was priceless. This book in my opinion is aimed at Foundation and Degree level students. Although it could be used for Postgrad I wouldn't like to comment on that as I don;t know what a postgrad course involves! (Yet) This was my first time back to University after being ...
...easy to read then anyone can! You can pick this book up for £33.99 brand new on Amazon or £13.00 used from Amazon(prices correct as @ 23/07/05). From time to time Ebay have this book as well and you may pick a copy up cheaper than this! I bought mine last year for £35.00 from Portland bookshop which is located at my University in Manchester. I had to include allsorts of Marketing terms in my assignment such as the 4 p's (the marketing mix product, ... Read review

Review of Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 - Great Britain. Office of Government Commerce by greenierexyboy

Advantages: Has all you need to know on the subject...
Disadvantages: ...but do you really need to know it?

...yourself for "Peter's Review Of Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2". A word of personal explanation is required. If this is so dull, how is it that I am in a position of "expertise" as to review it in the first place? Leaving aside any masochistic possibilities, I had noticed the desirability of acquiring a project management qualification within my line of work (IT management, for what it's worth), and had decided to gain the industry standard ...
...A Project, Controlling A Stage, Managing Product Delivery, Managing Stage Boundaries, Closing A Project, Planning) and their myriad sub-processes. These processes sometimes overlap and repeat, and they interract with the other main constituent facet of PRINCE2: the Components. These are both tangible and intangible (Business Case, Organization, Plans, Controls, Management of Risk, Quality in a Project Environment, Configuration Management, Change ... Read review

This book is produced to help people who are either doing a NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma. NEBOSH is the National Examination Board of Occupational Health and Safety. It is an organisation which was set up in 1979. Over 25,000 people take a NEBOSH qualification each year. Their website is www.nebosh.org.uk. I have used this book for my NEBOSH certificate examinations, its very useful but there are a few mistakes which needed to be altered. If you ...
...you which bits to change but if doing a course from home you may end up making mistakes. This is the second edition which is being reviewed and this was published in 2006 but is the most up to date book so far. It is quite a pricey tome for a paperback but worth every penny if it allows you to pass the exam. It is 432 pages long so you get alot of book for your money. The book is organised into 19 sections, which are:- 1 Health and Safety Foundations. ... Read review

Law For Business Students
Review of Law For Business Students (4th edition) - Alix Adams by Yazzi1

Advantages: Simple to understand, clear, self tests at end of each chapter
Disadvantages: None

...to cover different types of law and what type of laws apply specifically to businesses. As I have never specifically studied law I was glad to find a lot of the vocabulary to be clearly explained, with relevant examples to aid your understanding. I also find that just reading a making notes can become boring and I actually take longer to learn if I am doing this continuously. Therefore the text book had a section at the end of each chapter to help, ...

Living the Dream
Review of New Complete Self-sufficiency: The Classic Guide for Realists and Dreamers - John Seymour by aspebbles

Advantages: First kill your rabbit
Disadvantages: May cover too many subjects at expense of depth.

You do not know how surprised I was to see this book on the ciao ratings list. However, once I realised that it is published by Dorling Kindersley, who have a wide range of educational, reputable and innovative titles on their list and have been involved with ciao.co.uk in the past, it made sense. John Seymour was an early guru of the self sufficiency movement. He began his working life in living in the African bush, which informed his outlook for ...
...the UK, he put his experience to good use finding ways to live off the land in Suffolk, the West Country and finally in Ireland. As an elderly man, he attended the Rio Earth Summit in 1992 and until his death a few years ago, was still running his self sufficient small holding and school in rural Ireland. Dorling Kindersley were a small struggling publishing company just starting out in the early 19709's and the publication of this radical book helped ... Read review
