Oh yes its ladies night, oh what a night
Review of Love Is Not Enough: A Smart Woman's Guide to Making (and Keeping) Money - Merryn Somerset Webb by Shoka

Advantages: Concise chapters, good basic advice, not too long, available in hardback or paperback
Disadvantages: Not for the advanced investor, or probably a lot of men

...In the 369 pages of Love is not Enough Merryn covers a range of topics familiar to most. Introduction - Merryn discusses the fact that unfortunately many of us women are raised to see taking control of our finances as an unfeminine thing. Something for men, and that one day a man will come along and make everything ok for us. She mentions that many women never make a pension provision, have their own current account or even pay a bill once part of ...
...women are very good with money once they get the confidence. For example women investors tend to do better on the stock market because they are more cautious than men and tend to think more about where to put their money for the long term rather than looking for the next big thing. All very uplifting. Section One: Finding the Money covers maximising your income, spending less and having more and finally debt. One of the take outs from this chapter ... Read review

What Kind of Salary are you Worth
Review of Great Answers to Tough Interview Questions (How to Get the Job You Want) - Martin John Yate by helencbradshaw

Advantages: Good broad coverage of interview skills and techniques
Disadvantages: May be a little too basic for some, and a bit cheesy in places

...time! Part Three – Great Answers to Tough Interview Questions ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The main pitfalls here for interviewees are failing to answer the question, annoying the interviewer by answering a question that was not asked, providing superfluous information or attending the interview without sufficient preparation. This section contains 180 interview questions which are almost all open ended, ...

Disadvantages: technical terminology could be a problem for some, occaisionaly loses focus

One of my electives at university is Technical Analysis and market psychology, and my lecturer (a very successful trader in his own right) recommended this book to all of us students. I can now say that i am very glad that i followed his advice and bought it! Written by former Salomon Brothers employee and trader Michael Lewis, this semi-autobiographical book is a wonderful account of life for the financial powerhouses of the 1980's, a period which ...
...Saloman brothers. From the very start it is a gripping account of the culture that dominated the company, including delicious details of the abuses suffered by the newly hired 'trainees', as well as the hilarious excesses of the top brokers, or self named 'big swinging dicks'. A large section of the book illustrates the importance bonds, and charts the Salomon Brothers rise to complete dominance of the market, and then onto the period of complete ... Read review
