Virgin Dick says 'Screw it'
Review of Screw It, Let's Do It: Lessons in Life - Sir Richard Branson by christianfilmcritic

Advantages: A highly interesting, frank and motivational read
Disadvantages: Sometimes Branson's over enthusiasm becomes annoying

I will readily admit that I have never been what you could call a fan of Richard Branson, with his outrageous self publicity and his record attempts I have often found him rather annoying. But then part of me admires him, as anyone who can create such a hugely successful business as Virgin must be doing something right. So when I got the opportunity to read his book "Screw it, Let's do it" I thought why not, maybe I will learn something interesting ...
...maybe a bit of his drive will rub off on me. "Screw it, Let's do it" was written by Richard Branson when he was approached to write a book for World Book Day 2006, since then it has become an International best seller and recently been expanded to include a new chapter on environmentally friendly business. The book is not so much an autobiography, although it does touch on many aspects of Richard's personal life, but a look at how Richard goes about ... Read review

What Kind of Salary are you Worth
Review of Great Answers to Tough Interview Questions (How to Get the Job You Want) - Martin John Yate by helencbradshaw

Advantages: Good broad coverage of interview skills and techniques
Disadvantages: May be a little too basic for some, and a bit cheesy in places

...time! Part Three – Great Answers to Tough Interview Questions ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The main pitfalls here for interviewees are failing to answer the question, annoying the interviewer by answering a question that was not asked, providing superfluous information or attending the interview without sufficient preparation. This section contains 180 interview questions which are almost all open ended, ...
...required for many jobs. Most interviewers who know what they are doing (You can get some people who just cannot do the job of Interviewer!), will ask questions designed to get you to explore your previous actions and behaviours. These ought to be the easiest type of question to answer, as they are directly linked to what you did in certain situations. However, interviewees cannot always think fast enough when in an interview situation and you should ... Read review

The Undercover Economist
Review of The Undercover Economist - Tim Harford by FollettMotors

Advantages: succeeds in making economics less dry and out of touch with real life
Disadvantages: hardback price is (was) expensive

...and out of touch with the realities of everyday life, but this book very clearly elucidates how economics at its most raw impacts on decisions we make in our normal mundane lives. Tim Harford's writing style is clear and easy to understand and this is why his book is such a joy to read. Also, whereas Freakanomics is very much US-centric, The Undercover Economist is much more UK focused in its feel (and humour....) and for that reason, all the more ... Read review

Basic principles of effective living!
Review of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People - Stephen R. Covey by Rodney43

Advantages: Simple character forming habits are easy to understand and apply.
Disadvantages: NONE what so ever

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R Covey Powerful Lessons in Personal Change Published by Franklin Covey Co. and costs up to £10.99. Easily obtained at very low cost from ebay. This is the most amazing life changing book I have ever read and I have read many. Most of the others seem to focus on one aspect of self-improvement whereas this provides a fully comprehensive approach. I started reading this a year or two ago but didn’t ...
...rather than obstacles. habit 7 - sharpen the saw Covey interprets the self into four parts: the spiritual, mental, physical and the social/emotional, which all need feeding and developing. This is the habit of self renewal, says Covey, and it necessarily surrounds all the other habits, enabling and encouraging them to happen and grow. I would say that reading this book will literally change your life! This is powerful stuff and highly recommended. ... Read review
