Mesa Boogie Buster! Bass 200 series

...First off, I bought this from ebay.co.uk, the online auction site, I will get round to writing a review of that at some point! I paid £350 for the Mesa Boogie Studio 22 this is not the 22+ model but a slightly earlier one made in 1986. The guys at Mesa Boogie are really helpful and a quick email to them and they replied to tell me when it was made and that the manual and schematics were in the post to me. There service is second to none and I’d challenge anyone to get service this good from anyone let alone a guitar amplifier company. The amplifier is well constructed and in “as new” condition which is a testament to the build quality of the amp. Advantages: Its 100% Mesa Boogie Valve Tone!!!
Disadvantages: It could do with a tad more gain for a good thrash!!

...guessed add a little sparkle and a little depth to your sound, they are simple really, just flick the switch and the bass and treble controls ranges change slightly. The reverb is pretty much useless, it does add a little thickness to the sound but doesn’t give the “echo” you’d expect from a reverb. The 5 band graphic EQ is awesome, never leave how without one!!!!! Mesa boogie have hit the spot with the EQ, I don’t think I could live with out one anymore! It’s got all the usual round the back, effects loop, foot switch for EQ, Reverb and channel. On the whole I think anyone that play’s it will love it, if you have the patience to sit down and really get to know how to operate it you’ll be very well rewarded. ...Where do I start with this……… Well the manual is 48 pages long which gives you an idea of what a job I’ve put myself up for. Well we’ll start with its reputation……. Go to mesaboogie.com for a list of the guitarists that use this, it’s a good sized review in itself. Most notably are bands such as Metallica, Soundgarden, The Police and Sepultura. I know for a fact that Mike Rutherford from Genesis and Mike and the Mechanics uses or used one as this is one of three of his that came up for auction on ebay. A company was selling a total of 600 exGenesis items from there studio and the chance of a Mesa Boogie Triaxis for £500 as opposed to the £1700 they cost new was to good to miss!
