Manufacturer's product description

Buster has written these diaries himself - whenever he could remember where he hid the manuscript in his garden. In it he lays bear the truth of how The Man has held Buster back, pretending to protect fur and feathers. Buster's last book was an instant bestseller and, outrageously, The Man took all the credit. To add insult to injury, there were no extra biscuits. Worse, The Man forced Buster to eat low-fat ones, while he himself continued to eat lots of chocolate ginger nuts. Despite The Man's best efforts, Buster still gets into lots of scrapes, and, although his sight and hearing are failing somewhat, he still wants to 'go courting' - especially in springtime. Buster remains unaware of what happened that day at the vet's, and no one will explain it to him, but they continue to allude to something. On a visit to Ireland a gentleman tapped his nose and said to The Man, 'You can't fool me. I've worked it out. You wrote the book.' Buster was so upset by this vile calumny that he wanted to give the gentleman a good nip. Then he remembered the words of someone called Robert Kennedy who The Man goes on about: 'Don't get angry. Get even.' And he has.And this time it's personal. As Buster says, 'No more Mr Nice Dog.' See all Product Description

Anne Frank - The Definitive Edition?
Review of The Diary of Anne Frank - Anne Frank by  loumac

Advantages: Unbiased, lively and interesting account.
Disadvantages: There are various editions, each giving a different reflection of Anne as a person.

...The Diary of Anne Frank has reached universal acclaim. Written by a thirteen year old Jewish girl while she and her family hid in a secret annexe in Amsterdam, to avoid being captured by the Gestapo, the diary provides an interesting, lively and straight forward account of life for the young girl during the first few years of World War Two. However, as there are varous different editions of the diary it is not only the content of the diary which is questionable, but also the authenticity of the account. This surely allows Holocaust Revisionists to strengthen their argment, namely that the Holocuast did not take place? I believe that, for those truly interested in The Dairy of Anne Frank, the Critical Edition of the diary provides most interest. This incorporates all three editions and allows the reader to compare the alterations... Read review

God of Small Things
Review of The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy by  Ludwig99

Advantages: Enjoyable read and an insight to India
Disadvantages: Hard to fault

...I read this book some years ago now and it remains one of my favourite novels. The God of Small Things was Arundhati Roy's first novel for which she gained worldwide recognition and success. The story is an imaginative interwoven narrative that mixes light humour with a deeper underlying leitmotif. Like many great works of fiction this is a story of a family with a secret that gradually unfolds with devastating consequences as the novel progresses. Most of the drama takes place in 1969 in the Roy's native Indian State of Kerala. The family consist of upper caste Syrian Christians who own a pickle factory and the story is told mostly as witnessed through the eyes of two children, a brother and his twin sister. We are confronted with many of the grand themes of literature: religion, class, caste, taboo and revolutionary politics... Read review
