As I cannot, well I could, but really dont fancy tasting my dogs tinned food I didnt know which food was best to give him so in the past I have always bought different tins to see if he likes it or not.
I found a brand that he loves and have been giving him that one but I have now found out that that brand, Sainsburys own, was not doing him any good.
Let me explain. My dog is 14 years old and still has the energy of a youngster and a bit hyper but having a baby coming to live in the house meant we had to have a bit more of a well behaved dog. I was told that food counts a lot and not to let him have a lot of sugar and with natural nutrients in it.
I looked on the tins I was giving him and found "various sugars" in the ingredients. When I went shopping next I started reading all the tins and yes I had been giving him the only food with this mentioned. So it was time to swop. We swopped to Butchers and we have noticed a big difference plus he loves Butcher tins.
Butchers is made with fresh trip mix and all-meat loaf in jelly.
It is suitable for all breeds of dog and no matter what the size of your dog is. On the cans it will tell you a good feeding guide of how much of the tin to give to your dog depending on his size.
Butchers has high meat content and made with natural ingredients.
It is not bulked out with cereal or soya.
It is also suitable for dogs with a gluten intolerance
Nothing is artificial and it has efficient engergy source.
The ingredients are meat and animal derivatives, tripe, minimum 27% and minerals.
Sugar is not mentioned at all.
Butchers is available in 3 different can sizes, the largest being 1200g and that costs around £1.17 which I know is a bit more than Sainsburys but to have a less hyper dog is worth it!, 400g and 800g.
Dont forget to put water down for your dog as well as this food.
Thank you for reading x

my dogs love this, and the small tins are so often on off at 3 for £1 I dont need a huge tin for my 2 as 1s on a diet (the labrador in her) and my other is a little dog.
helpful review.
Advantages: Helpful for enticing a fussy dog to eat Disadvantages: Tins are heavy to carry home and the food itself is not pleasant smelling to us humans
