Butthole Surfers

The Butthole Surfers are a largely unknown American band - surprising, as they have been around since 1983. You may have heard their song, "Whatever" on the 'Romeo and Juliet' soundtrack. They often produce offbeat, upbeat music but are not for the faint-hearted or musically traditional. Having released 14 albums with style and nochalance, each with a different, fresh sound, there's a lot to like about them - however each of the songs in these individual albums seems to repeat this "fresh" style. I'd recommend them particularly if you like bands like 'Radiohead'. With catchy guitar riffs, harsh, cutting vocals and witty lyrics, they'll make you want to get up and do something - but I wouldn't recommend this kind of music for a Friday night watching the telly!
