At least Christmas is over, not that I don`t like Christmas, I just don`t like shopping. In fact I hate shopping, I do it all on-line, well except my grocery shopping, I like to squeeze my fruit before I buy it. Anyway, this brings me on to buycosmetics.com. I did some of my Christmas shopping from it last year, have bought a few things in between for myself and, you`ve guessesd it, some of this years Christmas shopping.
Buycosmetics.com is an on-line cosmetics company. I was originally introduced to it by one of the reward websites by receiving mail. Buycosmetics often has offers and this is what is prominent in the mailings. Not being one to resist a bargain, I had to take a look. Since then, I have used the site several times. The adverts are quite bright, drawing attention to bargains. They are in differents sections, promising a wide variety of bargains, products, cosmetics. The other thing that attracted me to the site, is the free postage which is not conditional of spending a certain amount. Always a good thing to save money where ever possible. As with most websites, you log in to buycosmetics, click on what you want to buy and proceed to checkout. The postage is free, but you can pay if you require
next day delivery. I have never done this as the free delivery time has always been good enough for me.
What do they offer? * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Buycosmetics offers, basically, cosmetics. They have quite a variety of items for sale, some which seem really weird, others the every day items in a female`s make up bag. Firstly, when you get on to the web site, and this I like, it is listed under sections for finding bargains. There is a clearance section, buy one get one free, I think 3 for 2 and to be honest, I don`t look at much else. It is a well laid out web site. The special offers are at the top and down the side are categories. You can either click on the brand name or the type of product. The products are set out so that you can look for the specific product , anti ageing, skin care, slimming, cosmetics etc. Once you have clicked on to one of these, there are several pages within. There is also a search facilitly.
What have I bought? * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I find the site fun, a bit of a lighthearted way to buy slightly unusual presents. Firstly, freefivers, a cashback site of which I am a member, offers 5% cashback for purchases made through them. Am I sounding more stingy by the minute? Then I go straight to the clearance, buy one get one free, every single click where I may make a saving. I then spend ages deliberating over what to buy. I have bought myself a couple of things.
I also bought a lucky dip, I think a paid about £25 and it was suposed to be £60 approx. There were a lot of good things in it, some I could give as gifts, some weren`t my colour, but I used most things, a bit of fun really.
I bought a speed shaper for £13.45, saving £6.54. It is a stretchy piece of elastic with 4 handles on it. How could I possibly not use it for the recommended 7 minutes a day to achieve a beautifully sculptured body. Well I used it for 7 minutes a day, for about 7 days.
A book on vinegar was buy one get one free, so of course, I had to have it. One for my Mum and one for my sister. It was very interesting some of the properties that vinegar offers. Would I have bought it if it was not buy one get one free? I think not.
A pore cleanser and black head remover for my sister for £9.95, saving £10. Funnily enough, she said she had been thinking of buying one for ages!
Hard skin remover for my Mums feet. She is always having the podiatrist over and I often buy her foot related products. This one was on offer.
As you can see, the site offers some unusual items and I would not think to buy them ordinarily.
What else do they sell? * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
As already mentioned, buycosmetics.com has lots of offers. The clearance has 43% off, 75% off, 79% off, Versace, Calvin Klein, W Seven, Revlon, Maxfactor. They offer the usual lipsticks, eyeshadows, perfume. Some of the brands are not the major high street ones. Revlon and Maxfactor do not have many items. Clinique, which I use on occassion, have very little. The savings are only about £1.25 from £25. The same with Clarins, there is little on there and the savings are minimal. Some of the other things on there are quite strange. LA Looks, drop a dress size in 1 hour, RRP £39.99, price £19.95, save £20.00. These are body wraps, how are you suposed to put them on yourself at home? Natures Gain, 1 cup size breast programme, RRP £450, save £225, now £195. Not cheap and does it work?! Firm and lift RRP £330, save £171 now £159. Breast enhancerelectronic conductive pads, 69% off. Not the sort of thing I will be running out to buy. It makes you wonder why some things are in the clearance items, doesn`t it?
Will I use again? * * * * * * * * * * * *
I dare say, next Christmas, I will look on buycosmetics.com (through the freefivers site) for some unusual bargains, or when I want to cheer myself up with some new cosmetics. There are some unbelievible bargains on there, are they really reduced by that much or are they just trying to get rid of them because nobody wants them. Work it out for yourself. Joking aside, there are some good bargains on there. Some of the anti-ageing products on there are apparently used by Victoria Beckham though there are no testimonials from her on there. The free postage is good making it worth a look, but a lot of the high street cosmetics do not have much of a reduction, there are probably more savings to be found in the shops when there are offers on. It is a great site for me when I can`t be bothered to go out, but I will probably have bought most of the things worth buying soon. Even with the reductions, a lot of the items can be bought cheaper on Ebay. I have only rated the site as average as the variety is not fantastic, yes there are lots of unusual items and a great cross section, but I couldn`t buy many of my everyday items there. I have always found the delivery time to be satisfactory, within the week and the site is easy to navigate. If you fancy looking at some unusual cosmetics and some possible bargains, take a look.
