I am new to the online investing thing. OK, I admit, I'm new to investing of any kind, period. When I realized I was getting older and needed to do something about the fact that I had no real plan for retirement, I asked my brother about online investment. Next thing I found great was the fact that all the information provided on the site was set up for the beginning investor. There are tons of articles written on several ways to invest and whether you should do long term investment or short term, they define all the stock market language, give information on good stocks to start out with and what type of portfolio you can build. In addition to all the information, if you set up a regular account, you can add a custodial account free of charge! That's a great deal for a college account, I think.
So, I have been dealing with BuyandHold for three months now and I purchase $25/month in stock. Sounds like a small amount and it is, but that's the beauty of it. I can purchase partial shares and just keep investing and re-investing the dividends, and it's a small investment each month so I barely miss it. It's even easier to miss if you use their BankLink automatic withdrawal--it's free, also. I figured it out and compounding interest over time (I'm into the long term investment strategy) can really add up! Take a look and see what you think.
