A little story concerning my son and his latest mobile phone aquisition.
Mesmerised by the vast range of companies offering mobiles in the National press, young Jon was strangely attracted to the Onestopphoneshop (hereinafter 1sps) ad in the Daily Mirror, last December.
After careful consideration he chose a Sony J70 phone on an Orange business tariff costing circa £30 per month, and the order was placed. 1sps advertised free next day delivery (it arrived just under a week later), free accessories (still waiting for in car charger/hands free kit and car holder)and £80 cash back as 2x£40 cheques at 2 monthly intervals(only 1 received).
There is a freefone order line but (yes you've guessed it..) after sales customer service is a charged call. I have taken up the matter for Jon and in 6 months I have written twice, phoned 7 times, faxed twice and the response can only be described as abysmal. There have been no formal responses from the company and promises for managers to call back when free have come to nought. Today, I was connected to Brian the supervisor who said "these things can't be resolved over the phone... put it in writing" (Remember the industry here) and despite the fact that a veritable rainforest has disappeared as a result of the paper I've used to date.
I was also amazed to hear this guy matter of factly dismiss the complaint about missing accessories - 6 months on - stating "we haven't had stock in yet... we told your son in February and April."
End of rant but be warned this company is a nightmare to deal with and I cannot believe that this is a 1 off.
In conclusion the 1sps service can only be described as POOR - though if you re-arrange the following... 1sps... I s'pose you could spookily describe them as P1SS POOR!
I wish that I had seen this earlier. OSPS adverts are wholly misleading and they do not honour contracts. Their adverts offer discounts on line rentals which they claim are made by a combination of automatic cheque back and redemption certificates. The automatic cheque back payments are never made and the redemption process is very complicated with extremely ambigous instructions. It is impossible to get any sense out of the customer help desk - the only responses after queing for up to half an hour are glib answers and then they hang up. The customer services do not respond to e-mails or letters - even if they are sent by registered post.
OSPS acts fraudulently.
OSPS are part of Carphone Warehouse, but SURPRISE SURPRISE - DON'T expect Carphone Warehouse to be concerned about the ativities of OSPS. CW encourage this activity and also do not deal with customer complaints. Their advertisements are just as misleading and their business practices are just as dubious.
Surrisingly the Advertising Standards Authority is not interested in the misleading advertisements placed in the press. I am waiting to see what action the Trading Stards Audthority take.
DO NOT DEAL WITH EITHER OSPS OR CARPHONE WAREHOUSE OR THEIR ASSOCIATED COMPANIES MANY OF WHICH HAVE COMPETING ADVERTS IN NEWSPAPERS. THEY ARE ALL CONNECTED AND DISHONEST AND WILL COST YOU MORE MONEY AND AGGRAVATION THAN YOU WANT.
agree with the negative feed back re 1sps.
I ordered a phone recently from OSPS and was eventually told that orange required £150 deposit. I told one stop I'd think about it, but before I'd got back to them they left me a message on the answer phone stating that a £50 deposit was required. I rang back to arrange this then was told it was in fact £150. I told them i wasn't interested.
Anyway, 2 days ago Peter from OSPS phoned to say I could have the same deal on o2 and that a deposit would not be required. He added, 'in fact, it's a better deal'. He explained that everything was the same (free gifts etc) - I pointed out that the cash back was £10 less, but that I didn't mind this!
The phone arrived today (impressive!) but without the Universal Hands Free Car kit (worth 29.99). I rang OSPS, Peter said he'd told me this at the time of ordering - he hadn't!
Then he said 'it's only a bit of plastic which screws onto the dashboard which you can get for about £2.99 anyway'. I told him I'd got the 'bit of plastic' but was referring to the hands free car kit which is not a 'bit of plastic' and according to the link from their home page is worth £29.99. He refused to supply this and stated that if I wanted to return the phone I would have to stand the carriage.
I have found their staff to be arrogant liars - what more can I say?
