Released in 2005, Aqua for Men is a stunning fragrance from Bvlgari, It's fresh, aromatic and chic with an essence that conjures up the scent of the sea and the aromatic elements of Mediterranean orange orchards. Aqva begins with a fresh aromatic note of petitgrain, orange leaves and branches. At the centre of this unusual fragrance Bvlgari have added an unusual combination of the seawater notes of Posidonia oceanica (an aquatic plant) with the aromatic notes of santoline. The base of this beautifully aromatic male fragrance is intensely masculine, with a wealth of dark woods and mineral amber.

Advantages: Smells wonderful, long lasting and cool bottle Disadvantages: Expensive
Bulgari, the contemporary Italian Jeweller is a company I always associate with quality beyond comparison. While in Detroit recently I became aware that a new fragrance, Aqva Pour Homme had been released and after some subtle hints it was purchased as a surprise by my wife for $54 for a 100ml bottle from a duty free shop. When searching online this product can be purchased from www.escentual.co.uk, however a 100ml bottle will set you back £47.00. Prices can range from £32 upwards at other retailers.
From the box to the bottle to the actual fragrance this oozes quality and style. The box is fairly flat and the glass bottle itself is shaped like a smooth flat pebble (similar to a paperweight) which is black in appearance but shimmers green in the light. A chrome atomiser sits at the top and is built into the round shape making it very easy to hold in the hand and spray, even with moist or wet hands. It fits neatly into the palm of the hand.
Bulgari Aqva is marketed as an aromatic fragrance with top notes that include mandarin and orange tree leaves with additional notes of santolina and the accord posidonia (a type of aquatic plant). The fragrance after application should dry down to give a warm mineral amber scent that oozes masculinity. I have to say that after a quick spray in the shop my first impressions were of none of the above however it was exceptionally pleasant and I couldn't wait to wear this for a prolonged period to smell how it would change, how long it would last and whether it would be the runt of the Bulgari litter.
Application as stated earlier is a breeze, and only three or four sprays are required to fill a room with the fragrance. First impressions are of a clinical strong citrus aroma produced from the top notes and once it has soaked into the skin and settled for around 5 minutes the fragrance alters dramatically. The strong aroma is replaced by a subtle citrus aroma with undertones of lavender which is very easy on the nose. Again after around an hour the citrus aroma seems to disappear completely and the fragrance gives a feel and smell of warm yet subtle lavender and reminds me of open fields and running streams. All in all very dramatic and wonderful all the same.
Not only is the fragrance heavenly, the staying power is awesome. After Aqva first thing in the morning the fragrance still goes strong 12-14 hours later and the subtle warm lavender is still evident.
In addition to the wonderful fragrance, great staying power and cool design of the bottle I have received numerous compliments when wearing Aqva. Personally I use this on a day to day basis and would recommend this for office wear, casual nights out and those special romantic evenings in.
After a month of use I have only used a fifth of the bottle, so that although it is a touch on the expensive side it does last for well over 5-6 months.
Aqva is not my favourite Bulgari fragrance, that crown is still held by Bulgari Extreme but it is certainly better than any fragrance produced by any of the other fashion houses and designers on the market that I have had the pleasure to own.
In summary:
Good points
Great fragrance Long lasting Cool bottle with easy application
Bad points:
Expensive

Advantages: Will almost certainly be different from what everyone else is wearing Disadvantages: Expensive and most people probably won't know of it so it's unlikely you'll want to brag...
...this is not the original Bvlgari Aqva, this is the lighter and more casual Aqva Marine. It's quite simple to distinguish between them should you go into a store, the original Aqva is in a dark blue bottle while the Aqva Marine is in a more turqoise/ocean blue colour bottle. It also has the word 'Marine' written on it. Ahem...
Aqva Marine is absolutely superb. It's one of those posh and elegant bottles you see every time you go into your perfume ... ...doesn't have 'Armani' or 'Paul Smith' on the front. It would be nice, I think, if people were a bit more open to trying different products and not just instinctively looking for what name is written on the bottle. Compared to a typical successful fragrance, this is competitively priced (although still fairly expensive) and in my opinion is better quality than the vast majority given its excellent staying power, easy application and its fantastic, ...

Advantages: Decent fragrance, lasts for hours and a little goes a long way Disadvantages: Doesn't live up to the hype
Bvlgari, the fashion house well known for their unique and very expensive jewellery have over the last ten years expanded their business base to include the production of some of the finest perfumes and aftershaves available for purchase by the general public. My personal favourite is the original Bvlgari Pour Homme and it has been a mainstay in my sizeable collection of aftershaves for the last 9 years however when new products have been released by Bvlgari I have always found the fragrances to be both unique, sophisticated and well suited to my own skin type. Bvlgari launched Aqva in 2005 to much acclaim and following on from this success Aqva Marine Pour Homme EDT was released in 2008.
Aqva Pour Homme Marine is available from a large number of high street retailers with prices for a 30ml bottle ranging £30 to £40, however ...
Advantages: Great smell, great price Disadvantages: can't think of much really
I love this stuff, it's really strong and it doesn't cost anywhere near as much as a lot of other sprays (which tend to smell worse as well). It's got a really unique fragrance which the girls LOVE and it stays with you all day.
I can buy this stuff for a tenner for the larger bottle near my home, so it's just about the only spray i wear. If i'm going for something special then i'd reccomend BvlgariAqva, but thats more expensive (by a long shot).
Diesel Plus Plus is the kind of perfume i could wear every day and still not get tired of wearing it after a whole year. As it's so cheap you don't have to save it for special occassions so you can be confident in the fact that you smell great all day every day, which is really brilliant. I speak from personal experience when i say this goes down a treat with the ladies; i ended up going ...
