Advantages: KEEPS THE KIDS OCCUPIED FOR HOURS Disadvantages: CAN GET A BIT MONOTONOUS AFTER WATCHING IT THROUGH 3 TIMES OVER.
CBBC on Choice is a channel on digital TV aimed specifically at children probably up to the age of five or six. I say this as the selections of programmes shown seem to be mainly for the younger child.

Well, that’s the sort of thing you get on CBBC Choice – a fairly wide selection of programmes. Some are good; some are a bit on the mediocre side. Now, it’s up to you to make your choice!
CBBC on Choice is a channel on digital TV aimed specifically at children probably up to the age of five or six. I say this as the selections of programmes shown seem to be mainly for the younger child.
The programmes start at around 6am (for those kids who get their parents up at the crack of dawn) and they show roughly4 hours of programmes. This cycle of shows is then repeated through out the day- this can be a bit of a downer as we all know that kids will watch the same thing over and over. On several occasions, I have watched the same sequence of programmes over and over – so much so that I’ve known exactly what Bob the Builder is about to say!
Despite this, you can not forget that it is aimed at children and not adults and considering that it will keep the children occupied for a fair while, it’s not altogether a bad thing. Before anybody says that kids shouldn’t sit in front of the TV all day, I totally agree and have to say my kids don’t. I will put on the TV for them while they’re eating breakfast, but once that’s finished, they’ll get up and do their own thing, coming and going as they please. I can honestly say that in the past, I have found myself watching this channel and then realising the kids have disappeared and are playing in their bedroom. In fact lately, they’ve been watching less TV and playing in the garden more which I am quite happy about.
Well, what programmes do they show? Here’ a selection – they are forever changing the different shows but the following are just a small selection of what you can watch.
Bob the Builder – see the many adventures of Bob, Wendy and the gang. See what mischief the different characters can get up to.
Tweenies – join Bella, Jake, Milo and Fizz n whatever they get up to that day whether it be going to the park or pretending to be pirates.
Bodger and Badger – the stories of Simon Bodger and his pet badger (whose favourite food is mashed potato).he has had various jobs ranging from school odd job man to the proprietor of a sea-side hotel. Whatever happens, you can guarantee that badger gets up to no good.
Green claws – a bit of a strange character this one. I can’t quite figure out what he is – to me, he looks like a giant caterpillar. He has a selection of special seeds in his greenhouse which, when planted in special soil and put inside the magic growing tree, grow into the most unusual plants. In the past, he’s grown a telephone plant and a snow plant.
Playdays – join Peggy patch, amongst others for different activities. There’s the playground stop, the tent stop, plus a couple of others. Quite an educational programme.
Come Outside – stories about Auntie Mabel and Pippin the dog. The get up to all sorts ranging from going to see how clay is dug up and made into teapots and others too many too mention. Whatever they do, they always go out in their spotty aeroplane.
Noddy – the well known all time classic – the stories of Noddy, Big Ears, pc Plod and the rest of the crowd, not forgetting Noddy’s trusty red and yellow car.
Teletubbies – Dipsy, Tinky-winky, Laa Laa and Po – this programmes was slated when it first came onto the telly as people ‘in the know’ said it didn’t encourage children to talk properly. Considering it was aimed at babies and children up to the age of two years, I think that was a load of clap trap. Both my kids loved this show and my youngest still likes watching it.

Advantages: variety of programmes Disadvantages: attitudes can rub off
CBBC is Cbeebies big sister.
This channel is only available to Satellite, Cable/Digital and Freeview subscribers and can be found on channel 701 on Telewest Digital and 616 on Sky.
I am not too sure what age group this channel is aimed at as the programme content varies so greatly.
My daughter is 6 and has been watching it for about 18 months now and appears to enjoy most of the programmes – so I would say that it caters for age 6 to 15 years.

**TIMES**
CBBC starts at 7am each morning. During Term time the schedule differs to that of the school holidays.
From 7am to 9am it’s programmes for the kids to watch before school.
From 9am to 1pm it’s the learning slot where they show all the school programmes.
Then from 1pm to 7pm is back to the kid’s programmes.
During the school holidays the school programmes are missing and the whole day is dedicated to the kids.

Advantages: Brilliant during the day for pre-school children and especially when the mothers of these children can have a rest! Disadvantages: The repeats drive me crazy but the kids love seeing the same thing over and over again.
My children, Callum aged 2 years 9 months and Lucy nearly 10 months, would watch this all day long if they could.
CBBC on Choice starts at 6am with "Choosy Bits" and this is the viewers choice of childrens programmes, then every day at 6.30am they have Teletubbies and this and The Tweenies are the only programmes that are on day in, day out, but these are the top ones so its great for the children! They also show Bodger and Badger, Radio Roo, Come Outside, Finger mouse, playdays, Bob the builder and many more.
The programmes are repeated 3 or 4 times during the day and at 6.30pm they show the repeat of the "choosy bits" from that morning, now anyone would think that me and my children do nothing but watch this channel all day long and they would be wrong because I only sit my children down to watch these programmes when I either ...

Advantages: Bright, colourful, imaginative, funny and made especially for pre-schoolers. Disadvantages: none that I can think of.
My son started Playgroup on Monday and it was very difficult for me! I was very nervous but he was fine. When we returned home after his first morning, which he did enjoy I sat him front of the TV while I made his lunch, it just happened to be the tweenies that appeared on CBBC on Choice, the digital TV Channel from the BBC.
This programme seems to grab his attention and imagination and as such is a brilliant diversion when I am off doing some housework or checking my emails!!
The Tweenies are so bright and colourful and, to explain to anyone that doesn't have a pre-school child at home, there are 4 characters that are pre-schoolers and go to this Playschool/group called The Tweenies, they are
Bella ~ She is the oldest and is blue with yellow hair and red top and shoes with yellow dungarees.
Milo ~ He is the next oldest he ...

Advantages: Great childrens programmes Disadvantages: none
Aside from the fact you have daft looking presenters singing and dancing to ‘It’s your birthday,’ with as much choreography as a new born lamb and the vocal talents of Des O’Connor (on a bad day!), Cbeebies is a pretty damn fine channel.
It is aimed at children under the age of six and is a great way to take a break from looking after your wee ones and get on with other chores while they sit and watch programmes such as Teletubbies, The Tweenies, Bill and Ben, Story Maker and Angel Mouse.
This channel, along with CBBC has taken over from BBC Choice in the daytime and has been broadcasting since early February 2002.
You can get it on Cable TV, ITV Digital and Sky Digital and it is one of the free stations you can get with any basic package you might have.
You do tend to get a lot of the programmes ...
