Are We Reviewing the same product?
Advantages: Sound quality, storage size, price. Disadvantages: None that come to mind.
I actually own this product. Not sure if piratess does or has becase he/she seems to be reviewing another model if they think that the product has a 'built in radio'...mines certainly doesn't!!!
If you are looking for a way to store uncompressed CD's without using a disc changer, then this is the way to go. Sound quality from this players hard drive is excellent...hard drive copies seem to sound better than the originals. Controls are pretty easy ... ...drive takes 2 button presses and the other features are equally accessible. To address piratess' other comments about mp3 and DAB...this product is aimed at people who want uncmpressed music played through Hi-Fi components, NOT compressed mp3 playback...buy an iPod if that's what you want....buy a DAB tuner if that's what you want...beginning to see where i'm going with this?
All in all this product does what it says on the tin and i'm very happy ...

One marvellous Marantz!!!
Advantages: Sound Disadvantages: None
...have opted for a used Marantz CD63 MkII KI Signature CD player to keep within my meagre buget of £200. What a difference from my previous model, an ancient, yet well regarded, Denon 1100 model: the sound of the Marantz is magical, most noticeable the width of the soundstage. Details are sharp and bass much more pronounced. I have noticed notes, sounds that I hadn't before. It is very musical in its output and together with my MF A1 amp I can understand ...

Arcam 192 CD player
Advantages: Natural and involving musical qualities. Disadvantages: The remote is not my favorite.
Bought one of these three years ago and loved it ever since. At £900 it wasn't cheap but has given a lot of musical pleasure.
Compared to my earlier Alpha 9 CD player which was a high achiever in its day the upsampling 192 appears to offer more low level detail making listening easier somehow. Bass goes deep, mid range seperates and layers superbly and the treble can be breathtakingly beautiful with the right recording. The yearning for my old vinyl ...

The Sony is almost music to my ears
Advantages: Great build quality, clear and spacious, good punch to the bass Disadvantages: Can sound muddled when there is too much going on in the music
Sony have always had a very solid reputation for producing solid hi fi i.e.rarely spectacular but certainly tick all the boxes you would ask for in hi fi. Thankfully this does very little to harm this reputation, the build quality is excellent and certainly is built to last, it is very sturdy and does not look cheap in the slightest. However cds are becoming something of a relic due to the fact that digital music stored on the computer does allow ... ...many impressive external dac's now on the market. Having said that though, for those whose primary need is the convenience of immediately playing their favourite music cd's, then this does a very admirable job. This cd player offers very good sound quality, vocals and musical instruments are very clear, there is a nice punch to the musical presentation, which is not overdone but certainly allows for the impact of sudden transients to be properly ...

Numark Axis 9 The best value cd deck for rookies and bedroom Djs
Advantages: Consistent, All main effects (scratch + key lock that WORKS) Disadvantages: No built in memory
I dj 2-3 times a week and often take my equipment in and out of venues so I need equipment that is durable and reliable. Ive had a pair of axis 9's for a few years now. They have turned out to be quite reliable and consistent where more expensive models weren't .. very important if you dj'ing at a gig. If you are a laptop Dj the Axis 9's works fine with all the major software, VDJ, Rockit, Traktor etc. There are some new features on the axis 9's ... ...Pitch-lock (called key-lock on numarks) is one of the most useful features I use and in my opinion axis 9's do this much better than others in a similar price range like 1200DZ or CDJ 200. They have very decent effects that are really easy to use, most notably, the scratch function which is a direct improvement from previous models like the axis 8. This is ideal if you are into Hip hop or urban styles of music. The looping buttons are easy to use. ...
