...Toshiba External USB 2.0 Combo Drive
INTRO
Along with my recent office purchase of the R200 laptop and seeing as it was minus a CDROM I bought an external CD unit.
I originally made the mistake of buying the DVD ROM version and at £85 that was next to useless. So I returned that and got the Toshiba External USB2Combo Drive. There are a few different ones out there, this one wrote CD's and read DVD's.
IMPRESSIONS
When you open the box up your greeted with what first looks like an MP3 player. Size wise its not much bigger than a CD. The finish of this one was brushed aluminium to match the R200 laptop.
Quality is easily very high, just like Toshiba's other offerings. If nothing else the Combo drive looks cool.
CONNECTION
The combo drive is connected up with a standard USB 2 cable. Not external power supplies are needed. This makes...

...What can i say about these DVD discs, well,
This media has been designed for use in DVD+RW recording devices, conforming to basic format specification version 1.0.
Recording time will vary depending upon recording mode and content. Please consult your hardware manual for further information.
Some contents might be subject to limitation on the number of duplications or might be copy prevented.
A recording in SP(standard play) mode can be played back with most of the DVD-Video players and DVD-ROM drives, depending on their generation.
DVD+RW is another exciting DVD rewritable format. Sporting a capacity of 4.7GB, DVD+RW media is designed to achieve excellent compatibility with current and future DVD drives and video players.
The Sony DVD+RW 4.7GB Rewriteable Discs are very reliable but do cost a lot of money, they are of very good...

Advantages: Fast, Reliable, Cheap. Works a Treat. Disadvantages: May Look abit Cheap and tacky'ish
...I needed a DVD-Writer for the cheapest amount of money but i also wanted quality and usually those two qualities never go hand in hand, BUT i was Very Surprised with this product, I couldnt belive how fast it burned my Monthly Back-Up and in the Long Run I will save me money because you can fit the same as 6-7 CD-R's which means you could save around £0.80 per DVD* you use instead of CD-R's.
I would definatly Recommend this itme to anyone who is looking to buy a DVD-Writer, Unless you want one that looks good with your System (e.g. Colourful Cases)
Also please remeber that this Writer is a Combo Writer - it burns +media and -media.
*Based on a DVD-R costing £0.60 and the CD-R's Costing £0.20 each
Thankyou for reading this review (sorry it is short)...

This mp3 player is a great alternative to an ipod.
If you want something a bit cheaper than an ipod and also a bit smaller and something to just use as a little mp3 player you can mess around with, rather than an ipod then this is for you.
