Advantages: Large memory, twin tuners, easy to use Disadvantages: Some minor problems still unresolved, noisy
'm pausing live TV as it will delete the watched portion as soon as I'm done with it.
Now the memory for his PVR was one of the largest when I bought it last year at around 160 GB. According to the manual it will hold over 80 hours of footage which is a lot and a year later and I'm only now just getting over 50% full. I have been good and I have been deleting programmes as I have watched them, but it does allow you to record several different series all at once onto the disc without having to hit delete too often. The memory edit function is very easy to use and even Mrs Cad has been good enough to delete programmes that she has watched.
The Humax does have a range of other functions which I have to admit I haven't used. Firstly it can connect to a PC via a serial socket, however this cable didn't come with the box and my PC and TV are ...

Advantages: Easy to set up and use, picture quality, storage space Disadvantages: None that I can think of other than being expensive
I was looking for a new PVR late last year and the general concensus form the press was that this was the best unit on the market. The only downside reported in those reviews was that the programme guide took a long time to load up. In my experience this was not a problem - although the programme guide loads up from scratch every time you turn the unit on - if you usually leave the unit on standby this is never really a problem.
The picture quality is top notch and the unit was really wasy to set up. As is always the case with digital TV recorders it took a bit of fiddling to get the picture settings on the unit and TV (16:9 on both)in sync but once that was sorted out the picture was crystal clear.
Recording progammes is really easy - just highlight them on the programme guide or use the series record function. One ...
Advantages: Picture, sound, recption Disadvantages: Remote control
I had a Thomson 160GB PVR and it was awfull, it kept crashing, wouldn't come out standby, Picture kept breaking up and it was noisey. I put up with this for 2 years and i'd had enough, so i bought a Humax 9300T PVR 320GB. What a fantastic box, the picture doesn't break up and is much sharper, it's whisper quiet when on and off, it's got a 320GB hard drive so you can record the programs you like to watch, you can also do a series link so you can record a whole series of a program, it has accurate recording so if a prgoram starts learly or runs late it will automatically adjust to record the whole program. It has HDMI slot for if your tv is HD ready and also it will power your indoor arial. in standby it only uses 0.9w of electric compared to my old box which used 17.8w. In my opinion the remote is a bit fiddly but once you have used it ...
