Any normal 17 year old wants to drive, it's always been something I wanted to do and it certainly gave me the freedom that I'd wanted, freedom to drive yourself places, or just to enjoy the experience. The control of a vehicle. But as with most things there is always a catch and have certainly found there to be more than one with driving. Road tax, petrol prices etc etc goes on and seemingly on.

But oh yes, I have been driving for two years now and I have found one thing to be the burden of my life, the one thing that burns a consistanly large hole in my pocket- the insurance. The sting in the tail of early motoring. Cars are cheap, fuel isn't too bad,(although still extortionate compared to the US prices) but insurance for the young driver is through the roof, and I wasn't a happy bunny. Can't we make it any better for younger, SAFE drivers? Although no one believes it we are safer than some other groups of drivers.

People I know couldn't believe the prices me and my friends had to pay to these extorting companies, all to give us a piece of paper to make us legal. I DO NOT agree with driving uninsured but it's no wonder those less well off risk it.

In my first year, driving a group 1 car I found insurance quotes to be around 1200 pounds for me and my little car, just me, and third party fire and theft! £1200! Oh well, we pay it and accept that it's what we have to do. The second year is still very bad with insurance in the many 100's. That was until we found CIS.

Seemingly the only company around to send a guy round to your house in an attempt to get your vote was CIS. Which I thought was a very good move. Nice and personal. The quote, which was previously over 700 pounds sterling came to between 2 and 3 hundred pounds, any driver, any time, anywhere, delieriously happy. This was as you can imagine great news for such a young driver and a young drivers wallet!

So even if people do complain about the unending telephone calls which keep you talking to an inhuman being, do put up with it because you might just find yourself smiling at the end of it! And if you do get to keep a bit in your wallet, send us a bit!
