Very fast but why pay for it?
Review of Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 / 3 GHz processor by
AdamHonek
Advantages: Unlocked multiplier
Disadvantages: Price, same performance can be had with overclocked Q6600/6700 for less
...Back in the older days, Intel used to differentiate the Extreme editions from the standard Pentium 4's/D's with more cache or Hyperthreading. Since the Core 2 Extreme Editions have been released, the only aspect these have that can't be found on the standard Core 2 Duo's/Quads is an unlocked multiplier. Sadly that's the only feature and is it worth 2x the price, I think not!. a Q6600 G0 or even B3 can be overclocked way beyond 3GHz using a 8x or ...

Intel Core2 Exteme QX6700 Review
Review of Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 / 2.66 GHz processor by
ladforce
Advantages: There is no faster CPU - future proof
Disadvantages: Price
I was eagerly awaiting the release of the core2 architecture last year but decided to hold out to see if there would be any bargains around Christmas time. This was also the scheduled release time of the quad core version.
As the time neared I began reading reviews and seeing what programs would utilise all 4 cores and found that the list was short. However, for an equivalent price I could have bought the X6800 chip which although has a higher core ... ...proofing I decided to get the quad core.
Before installing this chip a bios update was needed in order for my motherboard to pick up the chip and would fail to boot without it. Windows however does not need to be reinstalled and picked up all 4 cores perfectly and went about balancing the load from my running programs around all cores. I ran a few in game benchmarks against a friend with the X6800 chip and my QX6700 was noticably slower. However, ...

cheap but good processor!
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 / 1.8 GHz processor by
ahassan_006
Advantages: cheap & good processor!
Disadvantages: 1m cache
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 / 1.8 GHz processor is helpful for those people who want to buy good processor but in cheapest rate. It is a stripped down low cost version of the Core 2 Duo. The performance of the processor at stock speed is good. As it is a dual core processor, its multitasking performance is very good. You can compare this processor with other in the following link:
http://reviews.cnet.com/processors/intel-pentium-dual-core/4540-3086 ... ...only. But if you want to play games with it.. then the best configuration will be
1. 1333mhz capable motherboard
2. 2GB of DDR2 800mhz RAM
3. ATI 3850 or Geforce 8800gs graphics card
4. Western digital/ Maxtor hard disk
5. case, keyboard, mouse.....etc
Installation of the processor is easy. It is same as core 2 duo. So no need to worried about it... ...

Fantastic chip, even better when overclocked
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / 3 GHz processor by
piloteer81
Advantages: Cheap, fast and cool
Disadvantages: it's not a quad core, £130 may be too much for some
It took a while for Intel to wake up and smell the prices of AMD shares recently (AMD being Intel's main competitor). After years of AMD taking bite after bite out of Intel's market share with innovative, efficient, fast and affordable processors, Intel finally did something about it and released the Core 2 processor. The dual and quad core CPU's completely blew AMD away and AMD still haven't caught up two years later. The Intel Core 2 E8400 is the ... ...advantage of quad cores and Intel has released it's next generation architecture called Nehalem, it's well worth saving your money - with the E8400 costing less than £130, it's value for money, especially if you're overclocking, is undeniable. Whether you're buying a new system with an E8400 in it or upgrading your existing system, the E8400 should be top of your list. ...
