One of best amd dual core processors
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ / 2.8 GHz processor by neo1983

Advantages: Fast enough, Stable, Low power consupltion in idle
Disadvantages: No room for overclock, High power consuption in full load

...the last good offers that Amd launched in the market to compete with Core Duo processors. My tested version is built on 90 nm tired and true fabrication technology and has several good points, that worth mentioning. The good stuff: The performance is good, overall loses to core2 duo E6600 but by small distance and are some applications that really work better on this processor. The stability is perfect never had a single system crash. The ease ...
...consumption on idle: 9w Low price The not so good stuff: Loses to many applications to core 2 duo E6600 Relative high power consumption in full load 84-87w No room for overclock, if you reach 3100 Mhz you're lucky Conclusion: one of best Amd processors today ... Read review

AMD 4800+ x2 Dual Core Genius
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ / 2.5 GHz processor by dwspalton

Advantages: fast, runs cool, easy to install, cheap
Disadvantages: none

...Intel, with exception to an AMD 1800+ that was used as a home server. The reason for replacing my P4 HT 3Ghz was due to the motherboard systematically failing when the USB devices are connected. When you buy the retail box, you do get all you need for the processor - Heat-sink and fan - Processor (all 939 pins of it - counted of course) I can recommend getting some thermal grease. This acts as sort of a small barrier between the processor (where ...
...fan (to disperse the heat and keep it cool). I'm a person that will build a pc and take it apart just to build it again. When installing processors, there is a small gold triangle on one corner that aligns with a triangle on the motherboard. This must be aligned or else you with break the Processor and montherboard. I put this processor into a GIGABYTE G52S-S3P mother board and was set to go in about 30 mins. I also use 2 GB PC-5400 Coasair XMS2 ... Read review

E2140 still clocking!
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 / 1.6 GHz processor by wakka_man

Advantages: Great OCing potential, Very cheap, Easy to install
Disadvantages: Higher models available at similar price

I have been using this processor since building my computer last year, the reason im still using it is because it is a superb processor, these days this processor is sold on auction sights and can be purchased either with the cooler at about a £100 or easily purchased OEM style as just the processor itself. However i managed to purchase mine for a mere 20 pounds off ebay and ive never looked back since. Since then ive ran games such as crysis on ...
...has it failed me even under the stress of crysis. Many consider its clock speed as very poor for a dual core but in my eyes this is a gem for overclocking. I managed with ease to clock this processor from a respectable 1.6ghz all the way up to 3ghz each core. Ive been using it as this speed for about a year now and it hasnt failed me yet. This processor is so overlooked and i think its beauty comes in its price and its potential for overclocking. ... Read review

FAST, CHEAP, BANG FOR BUCK!!
Review of AMD Black Edition AMD Phenom X4 9850 / 2.5 GHz processor by charwai

Advantages: Fastest AMD Processor, easy to overclock, Cheap, Quad Core
Disadvantages: Not the best processor on the market, Runs hot

Being a AMD fan i felt that Intel was wiping the market with there dual cores and quad cores. AMD was giving me no reason to stick by them. Until they release there new gfx card: HD 4870 (more on that in that review). Wanting to stick by them i saw this claiming to add 'True Quad core technology' i bought this. Probably the fastest processor AMD have. The Black edition lets you unlock the potential of the 'AMD overdrive'. Extremly user friendly any ...
...average processor only intels quad cores are faster but hey i bought mine for £129 which is good value compared too the intel processors. It does the jobs i need it to do such as run games and multitask at the same time!! It runs a tiny abit hot on intense activity a bigger fan will keep it down. But hey we're all not perfect :) ...
