High performance with a low price tag!
Review of AMD Sempron 3200+ / 1.8 GHz processor by clairearcher

Advantages: Excelent all round performance
Disadvantages: NONE!

...one for you. Once again AMD have produced a competitively priced CPU which more than rivals the offers made from Pentium. I have incorporated this particular CPU into a relatively low cost self build using 1.5Gb memory using the Windows XP OS. The results observed whilst using the ever greedy resource guzzling Microsoft Office 2007 were outstanding. Excel, Power Point, Word etc. were quick to open without any signs of the all to familiar whirring ...
...had no problems with handling video playback from DVD or with on-line streaming. I had installed a Freeview TV card into the same build which again the CPU had no problems at all handling, with no jumping or picture freezing. I frequently have TV playback on my PC at the same time as using MS Office with very little signs of a depreciation in overall speed of the system. To summarise a good value CPU for speed and stability. ... Read review

...Bit Operating System with it. It doesn't heat up as AMD's older processors. I run Kubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 x64 having this processor and a 768 MB of DDR 400MHz RAM and its giving me much more than enough. It can serve you as good as an Intel 2GHz processor. If you are interested ina budget 64 bit processor and good performance then its for you. It gives you 100% value for money. ... Read review

Its just BAD
Review of Intel Celeron 1 GHz processor by Iceblade

Advantages: Cheaer than other processor of the same speed and can be over clocked to a slightly faster speed
Disadvantages: Cheap (depending on whether you find cheap an advantage or disadvantage), cnat cope with what its counter parts can!

...can really say about an intel celeron, except do not buy one. Thy are cheap garbage - i mean ok if you cant afford great hardware for your pc then thi maybe an option, or if you only use your pc for word processing, etc, aside from that its not very good for anything. My intel celeron 333MHz with MMX has caused me nothing but trouble. One fact of them is that many dont run at the speed they are stated. In tests they have the ability to but mine ...
...clocked if you have the know how but i am seriously agaisnt it. When comparing mine to my friends Pentium 2 350 (i think it was 350 maybe 300) his was able to run a great deal more programs without his even crashing once. My processor is now under such strain from my programs it crashes every time more than four are running (aside from the compulsory ones in the task manager screen). I would seriously advise against a perchase of a celeron - for ... Read review

good speed
Review of AMD Sempron 3500+ / 2 GHz processor by tumadi

Advantages: fast n good
Disadvantages: not worth

bought this thinking it was the dogs, well it is, but wish I had bought a x2 dual core CPU for the same price, as this will be more helpful with Vista and other applications. I can't fault this CPU in any of the tasks that I need it for though, it breezes through Quake 4 and Prey with easy, in no way does it bottle my 7900GTX GFX. I think I will only feel the affect of not having dual core when it comes to running Vista in the near future. I would ... Read review

sempron 3000+
Review of AMD Sempron 3000+ / 1.8 GHz processor by totalis

Advantages: very good, low price processor, overclockable
Disadvantages: none as yet

when i bought a sempron 3000+ i didnt imagine it would be as good as it really is, the motherboards that support the sempron's also support quicker dual cores so when the time comes to upgrading again i will be able to buy a dual core with no extra fuss. i have set up a whole system from scratch and this processor peformed brilliantly, i recomend this processor for all those who want a good low cost solution to upgrading, NB the overclocking potential ...
