Nice one
Review of AMD Athlon 64 3000+ / 1.8 GHz processor by
dav987
Advantages: Pretty cheap, fast, very cool therefore overclockable
Disadvantages: none whatsoever
It's an amd, it says its a 64 bit athlon 3000+ but what does this mean in plain english!
Well first of all it is 64-bit which basically means that it is compatible with 64-bit operating systems and programs which is not necessary at the moment but in the future it will be.
Secondly, the name suggests the clock speed is 3.0GHz but it is actually clocked at 1.8GHz. The reason it is called a 3000+ is because that is the relative performance output, ... ...than say an athlon xp 1.8GHz, hence the name.
I have had one of these since January, i have had no problems with it at all, it is a lot cooler than the old athlons, mainly due to the new transistor size being 90nm rather than the old 130nm.
All in all a very good, relatively cheap INVESTMENT into a socket 939 system that will leave you with plenty of scope for future upgrades. ...

Review of Intel Pentium 4 1.6 GHz processor by
Skyth
Advantages: games; mpegs
Disadvantages: current apps aren't that good
There is nothing more satisfying than sitting in front of a 1.6GHZ P4 and starting a new Quake III game. Graphics run liquid smooth, its like mercury being drained at 1074x768 16 bit color resolution. Ecstatic, yes. Worth the 2k system? Hell yes. If games are your priority when buying a new system.
With its recent release the new Pentium-4 chip has given hardware geeks more than ample justification to babble on and on (ducktape, please). Check www.tomshardware.com ... ...benchmarks. Its hard to skim through all and get any sense of what is going on, so I will just give you my own conclusions.
P4 is slick. Perhaps a better modified AMD that costs 500$ less can beat it in current applications, yet we had the same arguments being outspoken when the MMX technology first came about. The new chip is revolutionary in that its instruction set is completely different from its forefathers. While PII and PIII had much in common, ...

TheTechGuy0
Advantages: Good clock speed, good video decoding and overall reliabilty
Disadvantages: Only 2 MB cache
The Core 2 Duo e6400 has many good features:
It uses a 1066 MHZ FSB (front side bus) for a fast link on the motherboard.
It 2 cores running at 2.13 GHZ
The Processor is very EASY to overclock; just be careful.
It is energy effecient and runs cool, unless you over clock
Not as good features:
2 MB cache low compared to others in the range
I found this processor to be excellent; it was extremely fast. With this processor there is no worry of ...

Great, fast, cheap
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
mop591
Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: hard to think of one
This intel dual core processor with 2.4Ghz speed (total speed of 4.8Ghz) with a 2MB Cache can handle an awful lot of demanding programs runnning at once and for the amazingly low price its a very good processor. This processor is also compatable with 64 bit computing.
It has an LGA775 Socket which is compatable with most motherboards (up to you to check these things) if you are looking to upgrade or build your own pc. If you are looking to buy a ...
