Review of AMD Athlon 64 3000+ / 1.8 GHz processor by dav987

Advantages: Pretty cheap, fast, very cool therefore overclockable
Disadvantages: none whatsoever

It's an amd, it says its a 64 bit athlon 3000+ but what does this mean in plain english! Well first of all it is 64-bit which basically means that it is compatible with 64-bit operating systems and programs which is not necessary at the moment but in the future it will be. Secondly, the name suggests the clock speed is 3.0GHz but it is actually clocked at 1.8GHz. The reason it is called a 3000+ is because that is the relative performance output, ...
...than say an athlon xp 1.8GHz, hence the name. I have had one of these since January, i have had no problems with it at all, it is a lot cooler than the old athlons, mainly due to the new transistor size being 90nm rather than the old 130nm. All in all a very good, relatively cheap INVESTMENT into a socket 939 system that will leave you with plenty of scope for future upgrades. ... Read review

Review of AMD Athlon XP 2500+ / 1.83 GHz processor by boglem

Advantages: Overclockability, Reliability, Price
Disadvantages: erm None

I have had this Proccesor almost a year and half now. All i can sya is it is great, I have used my motherboards overclocking tool nad when running the sandra benchmark it has beaten the XP2800+, I know i coul go further but my memory is generic 333MHZ memory whih will probably be destroyed if i increase the FSB further. Although the Multiplier is shown to be locked on the overclocking software i have, i am sure it could be over come. THe only thing ...
...one and getting 400MHZ DDR Ram. As then you will be really able to let this processor rip. It runs at just over 50 degrees C with the inbuilt fan with SETI runing most of the time, could i have bought a better chip for the money, i do not think so. ... Read review

AMD 1.92GHz Processor
Review of AMD Athlon XP 2600+ / 1.92 GHz processor by mcdude

Advantages: Stable, fast, easy to install and value for money
Disadvantages: Instructions could be clearer

...say? What a product. The AMD 1.92GHz processor delivers high speed and performance at low cost. Built upon the reliability of AMD's processor architecture this product is not only quick and stable but is easy to install. I found this product very attractive thanks to reviews on Ciao and others. Support from AMD was excellent and they provided top support for the product. The only problem with the product was the manual. This was minimal and I ... Read review

Words of a hardware idiot.
Review of Intel Pentium 4 1.6 GHz processor by Skyth

Advantages: games; mpegs
Disadvantages: current apps aren't that good

There is nothing more satisfying than sitting in front of a 1.6GHZ P4 and starting a new Quake III game. Graphics run liquid smooth, its like mercury being drained at 1074x768 16 bit color resolution. Ecstatic, yes. Worth the 2k system? Hell yes. If games are your priority when buying a new system. With its recent release the new Pentium-4 chip has given hardware geeks more than ample justification to babble on and on (ducktape, please). Check www.tomshardware.com ...
...benchmarks. Its hard to skim through all and get any sense of what is going on, so I will just give you my own conclusions. P4 is slick. Perhaps a better modified AMD that costs 500$ less can beat it in current applications, yet we had the same arguments being outspoken when the MMX technology first came about. The new chip is revolutionary in that its instruction set is completely different from its forefathers. While PII and PIII had much in common, ... Read review

Top Range Dual Core Processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 / 2.13 GHz processor by TheTechGuy0

Advantages: Good clock speed, good video decoding and overall reliabilty
Disadvantages: Only 2 MB cache

The Core 2 Duo e6400 has many good features: It uses a 1066 MHZ FSB (front side bus) for a fast link on the motherboard. It 2 cores running at 2.13 GHZ The Processor is very EASY to overclock; just be careful. It is energy effecient and runs cool, unless you over clock Not as good features: 2 MB cache low compared to others in the range I found this processor to be excellent; it was extremely fast. With this processor there is no worry of ... Read review
