A good cheap upgrade for older computers
Review of Evergreen Spectra 333 - AMD K6-2 333 MHz processor by The_Rock

Advantages: Good price, life time warranty, new technology for old pc's
Disadvantages: Might work as a bottle neck, if your pc lacks RAM

The evergreen Spectra 333 is a direct replacment for you old Pentium CPU, it replaces Pentium 75Mhz and up and offers a big boost in performance. The upgrade uses an AMD K6 II as the CPU and comes on an adapter board that alters the voltage to make it compatable with your system, the heatsink and fan are also provided as are BIOS updates. It also uses 3D Now technology to provide extra support for graphics in games and general applications. If you ...
...to upgrade the motherboard and processor, then the Spectra 333 is an affordable compromise for your system. The price may seem high at first until you take into account that a new motherboard and memory are not required. The price is around the £120 mark, but cheaper ones are available. Easily a good choice if your old computer can not keep up with todays new applications. Also easy to fit. The upgrade has a life time warranty and technical support ... Read review

Celeron 266 MHz
Review of Intel Celeron 266 MHz processor by avidgamez

Advantages: For simpler processes
Disadvantages: Much to slow for modern day software

Nowadays for the latest software and games much faster processors are required. So this is completely shadowed by any budget processor in modern times. Even though it is often at very, very low prices you must not be tricked! Some people still are persuaded into buying low grade cpus through rather "dodgy" product specifications. Trying to run any game on this other than "minesweeper" will be a total waste of time. Even though some games you may ... Read review

The best way to upgrade your pentium
Review of Evergreen Spectra 400 - AMD K6-2 400 MHz processor by mrbibbly

Advantages: Easy to install,Lifetime guarantee and support, damn fast processor
Disadvantages: Not suitable for beginners

I had an old Pentium 100mhz CPU computer, which I inherited, and it seemed a tad slow (for good reason!).I had seen this upgrade available at various mail-order firms and saw that it was available for socket 7 motherboards,at Pentium 75mhz upwards. The upgrade itself is a AMD-K62 400mhz processor with heat sink and fan.It has instruction sheets and the necessary disks to alter your BIOS and to benchmark both your old and new processor speeds. I ...
...had no motherboard manual,I was relatively pleased with the ease of installation. It has a lifetime guarantee and lifetime phone technical help. I had to phone the technical support once, they were very helpful and useful, and resolved my problem quickly. If you want your old pentium to be up to 400% faster, with MMX and 3DNOW! then I would thoroughly recommend this product... ... Read review

Great, fast, cheap
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 / 2.4 GHz processor by mop591

Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: hard to think of one

This intel dual core processor with 2.4Ghz speed (total speed of 4.8Ghz) with a 2MB Cache can handle an awful lot of demanding programs runnning at once and for the amazingly low price its a very good processor. This processor is also compatable with 64 bit computing. It has an LGA775 Socket which is compatable with most motherboards (up to you to check these things) if you are looking to upgrade or build your own pc. If you are looking to buy a ... Read review
