The best cost effective Processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by appollo2006

Advantages: 4 cores. New G0 stepping Q6600 runs cooler and is easy to overclock
Disadvantages: Software doesn't take advantage of all 4 cores.

I bought this a while ago for £160 even at that price it is a bargain and now you can get it £140 a no brainer in my opinion. An extremely powerful processor 2.4Ghz per core adding up to a total of 9.6Ghz. The best thing about this processor for me though is its potential for overclocking, if you get the new G0 stepping which is a must this processor can easily be overclocked to 3.3Ghz just by using a good cooler such as a Scythe Infinity and would ...
...default cooler. This processor will do it all if you want to encode a video no problem I have encoded a full 90minute film in less than 30minutes and while I was doing that I was also playing a top end game without any lag. Coupled with 2Gb of fast DDR2 memory and a good graphics card such as a 8800GTX your new rig will easily be able run new games and future games for many a year. The easy installation of the LGA775 socket makes it a breeze to ... Read review

An extremely fast processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 / 3 GHz processor by Xplodzion

Advantages: Very Fast, Stock fan is not too loud
Disadvantages: Further overclocking would require a better fan

This is the fastest standard Intel Core 2 Duo you can buy, the E6850 has a 333Mhz FSB which is 1,333Mhz Effective so it has more memory bandwidth than its descendants. The E6850 has a VID of 1.35V most of the time (some of them have a VID of 1.3v although it's uncommon) and runs slightly hotter than a E6750 with a VID of 1.3, during my tests I also noticed it is harder to overclock than an E6750 but only by a small amount, me getting the clock speeds ...
...get the E6750 up to just under 3.65Ghz, this was just with the boxed fans that came with the processors, although if you bought custom coolers, you would get much better. Conclusion: While I could not get it to overclock as high as an E6750 in my tests, you could easily reach over 4Ghz if you bought good enough cooling for it, however if overclocking is not for you, this processor is still an ace to pick up and will run any of tomorrows software ... Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 / 2.33 GHz processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 / 2.33 GHz processor by mop591

Advantages: Very fast, cheap
Disadvantages: need to have IT expereince

This intel dual core processor with 2.33Ghz speed (total speed of 4.6Ghz) with a 4MB Cache can handle an awful lot of demanding programs runnning at once, obviously it has its limits, but for the price its a very good processor. This processor is also compatable with 64 bit computing. It has an LGA775 Socket which is compatable with most of the new motherboards if you are looking to upgrade or build your own pc. If you are looking to buy a processor ... Read review

Best Value Processor On The Market
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 / 1.8 GHz processor by Wickentree

Advantages: Value for money, Performance, Easy to install
Disadvantages: Small 1MB L2 Cache, Instructions are a little lacking

Performance I thought that it would be best to talk out the performance of the processor first since this is what everybody is looking for with games and application becoming more demanding. The performance of the E2160 out of the box is quite slow at only 1.8GHz but this is where the beauty of this processor comes in, it is highly overclockable, I have mine running at 3.2ghz and it doesn't go above 60 degrees C. The small 1MB L2 Cache does ...
...expensive reviews but this CPU has amazing performance for its price. Price For its price this CPU is outstanding, I got mine for just under £50 and 3.2ghz from a £50 processor is just brilliant in my opinion, even some of the more expensive processors don't get these sort of speeds. This is bar far one of the best value processors currently available on the market. Installation Installation of this processor was extremely easy, ... Read review

Intel E8400 Processor review
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / 3 GHz processor by Kingmark1894

Advantages: Very quick, highly overclockable.
Disadvantages: None, except there are not many stock often.

...any problems or voltage changes. Intel recommends a voltage of 1.225 volts. When compared to the Q6600 this processor might fall behind but at the moment hardly any problems utilize all 4 cores and the the moment 2 cores is enough. However if you are willing to spend another £20 -£30, i would recommend but the q6600 because in the future programs will take advantage of the four cores. The heat sink provided in the box is better than i expected, it ... Read review
