This Monitor still works fine after 4.5 years
Advantages: High resolution, seems fairly durable Disadvantages: Casing is rather large
This monitor came with a computer that I bought back in September 1999 . It has a 17 inch tube and is capable of resolutions up to 1600x1200 pixels - higher than most monitors can manage. Higher resolutions are good because it means you get more pixels, so can fit more windows on your screen at once. The monitor has a VGA connector (the same as most monitors) and comes with a swivelly base so that it can be rotated and tilted up or down with ease.
... ...and it has travelled about 3000 miles in total in a car boot (travelling with me to uni and back three times a year) and still works as well as it did when I bought it, the picture hasn't degraded at all so I guess it must be fairly robust.
The monitor has an OSD (On Screen Display) for adjusting the settings. The settings available are:
Brightness - controls how light or dark the picture is
Contrast - controls how much difference there is between ...

Hansol 710A (17-inch) CRT Monitor
Advantages: A solid monitor that should last well. Disadvantages: Older model. Depends on required resolution.
...have been superseded by the Hansol 730E, but it seems to have basically the same specifications, so I think it would be fair to apply many of my comments here to this model too.
The manufacturer's web page has further specifications and info on the range of their products:

**Experience:**
I've had this monitor for 3 years and it's served me well, especially considering the amount of time it's turned on (over 6000 hours ... ...When I bought my monitor, hansol were offering a good warranty and replacement scheme. It's well worth comparing the warranties on monitors as they vary a lot. Especially check if the monitor will be collected at no cost to yourself (monitors are heavy and will therefore cost a lot to send back!).
**Conclusion**
If you want a cheap 17-inch monitor to run at 1024x768 then this (or the Hansol 730E) should do nicely. However, Hansol also do a "Professional" ...

A solid performing monitor
Advantages: 19" Monitor....Inexpensive...Low Emissions, energy saver Disadvantages: Large, Heavy, Low Refresh Rate
...internet, it is well worth getting (if you have enough desk space) for a 19” monitor (which is lovely although I would want more now) is definitely worth it. It is durable and if anything does go wrong – Hansol has a 3 year guarantee, so no worries there! Enjoy! ...

Old faithfull
Advantages: Cheap, good quality Disadvantages: Big compared to new tubes and TFT panels
I bought my 17-inch Hansol 710D about a year ago from Ebuyer as I was looking for a larger monitor primarily to browse the web and also to play games on without using magnifying glasses. Money was a a strong motivator in this choice, although I was finally swayed by a number of very good reviews for this monitor. So far, it has not diappointed. The monitor looks like any other cheap monitor with off-white cabinet and plastic stand. On the front are ... ...on-off button. The status is indicated by a LED that turns green when on, or amber when no signal is received.
Performance is very good, particularly keeping in mind the price. I used it with an STB velocity 128 video card at first and currently with a Gforce 4 TI4200. Refresh rates to up to 85Hz at 1024x768 pixels. The image is crisp and clear. As the tube face is perfectly flat, there is minimal distortion of the image. Colours are good, although ...

Hansol 920P, Great low-end 19" Monitor
Advantages: Great price, high screen resolution Disadvantages: Very reflective.
This monitor really is excellent, especially for the price. The only downside being the lack of glare reduction.
The manufacturer's specification says it can only go up to a resolution of 1600x1200, and if you use the supplied drivers that's all it will do. However if you set it up in Windows as a "Default Monitor" then you have access to the full range of resolutions.
It can do upto 2048x1536, however when I do this I get a white line down the ... ...I have it running perfectly comfortably at 1920x1440 however and don't have the slightest problem.
The only draw back in this is I'm only able to have a refresh frequency of 60Hz, whereas at 1600x1200 I can have 75Hz. But personally I can't really tell the difference.
There's a nice onscreen display for adjusting various options, like screensize, position, colour balance, even a "zoom" function. However the controls for this take a little getting ...
