I would have one if it was free

Advantages: Black and its 19"
Disadvantages: Evrything

I bought one of these to go with my ACER PC. Having already purchased an LCD I didnt want to have to spend a load on another so I bought this. But at £170 I should have just bought the LCD..... First impressions of CRT monitors are always found when you have to take them out of the box. This one weighed a ton and a half. Not the best thing to be lifting with a bad back. The screen quality is very good on this unit, crisp and bright. But I am afraid ...
...the base it took me 4 or 5 attempts to figure out how to attach it. On doing so I placed it on my desk only to find that the base is not strong enough to hold the weight of the monitor. If you angle it up at the back it just drops back again. The other major problem with the unit is that the actual tube is nothing short of titanic. I have to sit at an angle just to be able to fit it in the space that I have. My previous compaq monitor fitted fine. ...

good CRT monitor, although obsoleted to LCD

Advantages: Sharp and clear, flat, low distortion, stable
Disadvantages: big size & heavy

...the SONY Triniton CRT tube, IBM P76 provided a very sharp, bright and colorful picture quality. In fact, this model is outsourced from SONY in Japan. The model seems to be discontinued now and obviously obsoleted compare with the light weight and non-flashing of LCD. However, some features are still unsubstitutable. First, it is more brighter; Second, provide a wider view angle; Most important, more colorful, the color is more accurate, thereby ...

E74 is OK

Advantages: Functional, Works!
Disadvantages: Nothing apart from being a CRT and being BIG

The E74 from IBM really isn't anything special. A large, beige box with a clear, sharp display and five buttons to access the digital tuning menu to be precise. Legend has it that this model is also available in black for you aesthetes! The digital menu contains all of the functions one has come to expect, including the option to change the language in which the menus are written. Navigating between menu items is relatively simple using the arrow ...
...a 17" monitor with a flat glass front. However, if you have set your heart on an IBM E74, I strongly recommend attempting to get hold of this monitor secondhand - I did and it only cost £40. © ben-lloyd 2009. This review appears on other websites ...

Good but Bulky

Advantages: quality and reliability
Disadvantages: size, cost

...use this work horse SVGA IBM monitor every day for work and it has proved sound and reliable. Being IBM, the monitor was not the cheapest on the market but I like the reliability and servicing options available. The resolution is quality is good and colours are quite vibrant. The 'on-screen' colour controls are easy to change. On the down side, apart from price, the weight and overall size of the monitor are negative factors which need to be considered. ...

Taxan Monitor - The Death Star Monitor

Advantages: Robust and Solid
Disadvantages: Heavy

Taxan Ergovision Monitor 735 TCO99 Introduction The oldest looking piece of kit I use at work is this monitor. Taxan is part of a Japanese electronic company who have been around since 1981 and have been a leading producer of monitors. This CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor works by basically firing electron beams through a vacuum at a screen to produce a picture. This picture is what we see when we look at a monitor. Specs ...
...1204 resolution • Mini two port USB hub attached to Base • Manoverable Base • Weighs 20Kg Personal Experience This monitor is a bit old school for me, it weighs as much as a death star if your trying to move it and nearly takes up as much room as one to. The display itself is still in good condition considering its age, its as good as any brand new CRT you will get so it’s certainly lasted. You have all the normal options on a monitor ...
