GAME PLOT
Not really much of a follow through plot for the game but basically you have just joined tha Las Vegas Crime Lab Night Shift as a junior forensic investigator (otherwise known as the rookie lol). You will join Grissom, Brass and the team in helping solve 5 crimes.
TOOLS
As this game is purely investigative you are issued upon your introduction with a range of tools to help you catch those bad guys lol Throughout the tutorial you will be shown how to use each of these but here for your pleasure and for one time only is a list of the tols you get your hands on through out this game:
Collection Tools
Swab - Mop up blood and other stains for analysis in the Lab. Gloves - Use these for picking up larger objects (you dont want to contaminate anything!!) Tweezers - For picking up tiny objects such as shards of glass and fibres. Casting Kit - Take casts of footprints, kneeprints etc for later analysis Mikrosil - Putty used for making moulds of wounds such as gun shots Adhesive Lifting Tape - Used to life trace fibres from clothing etc Electrostatic Dust-Print Lifter - This lifts dust from non pourus surfaces
Detection Tools
Magnified Scope - Takes a closer look at things (bet ya didnt guess that one did ya lol) Ninhydrin - reveals latent finger prints on non pourus surfaces. Fingerprint Brush - Dust for prints UV Light - Useful for detection of accelerants Sniffer - This device samples gasses and identify odorants (remember in the show Warrick wasnt allowed one so Grissom must like us more than Warrick already) lol Luminol - Causes blood traces to glow IR Diagnostic Camera - Useful for detecting heat signatures such as bodies.
Throughout the game you get to ask your partner for hints on what you should do next although this all gets taken into your final evaluation and knocks points off your score.
Also you have the right to question and interrogate suspects when questions arise - this is done by the use of clickable questions, if they have told you everything they know they will tell you this.
BRASS is always on hand for dishing out warrents (but you'll need enough evidence first) and checking past convictions.
GREG is always there in the lab for you and you will need to keep checking back with him every time you get some evidence for him to analyse - occassionally he will tell you to do it yourself such as microscopic work and AFIS searches.
Also to help you with your work you have files which you can access at any time which list all your notes on the evidence you have collected, suspects and victims.
CHARACTERS
Now call me easy to please...go on I dares ya lol... but you play as yourself and for some reason I really like the fact you enter your name for the case files lol (simple things and all that) During the game you work under the supervision of the shows main characters.
LEVEL 1 - INN & OUT GIL GRISSOM - ENTOMOLOGIST
Gil is the Head of the department and shortly after welcoming you to the team he is whisking you off to your first homocide in a sleazy 'rent by the hour' Vegas hotel. A girl has been found strangled and tied to a bed with money found in her mouth. The majority of this level is a tutorial which talks you through your files, tools and investigation procedure.
LEVEL 2 - LIGHT MY FIRE SARA SIDLE - MATERIALS AND ELEMENT ANALYSIST
In this level you join Sara in investigating an arson at the home of Jason Gray. A broken window, lighter fluid and smoke damage present so why does something about this case not seem straight forward? It is up to you to investigate.
LEVEL 3 - GARVEY'S BEAT NICK STOKES - HAIR AND FIBRE ANALYSIS
Join Nick in investigating a high profile cop killing and enter a world of Internet crime and criminology obsession, meeting some old friends of Nick's along the way can you make a judgement based on reason and not on emotion?
LEVEL 4 - MORE FUN THAN A BARREL OF CORPSES. WARRICK BROWN - AUDIO/VISUAL SPECIALIST
After receiving a crack phone call the team are obliged to investigate. Upon arrival at the source of the phone call you discover a body stuffed into a barrel with a casino chip stuffed in her mouth - doesnt this somehow you remind you of your first assignment?? Join Warrick in investigating this homocide and learn more about old cases along the way.
Grissom is missing and one of our prior collars is our only hope of finding but can you gather enough evidence to find him or can you make her squeal before Grissom runs out of time!!! Working with Catherine Willows go in search of the evidence and save the day before your final evaluation.
MY OPINION
I really enjoyed playing this game as you get to take part in your favourite show and get to use some groovy tools. I particularly enjoyed the final level as there was less emphasis on questioning the suspects and more on the forensics. The game lets you do quite a lot more than I expected for instance questioning and interrogating wa a nice accompanyment to the forensic side to let you see your case through to its resolution. Also as with the show the forensic description was faultless and was backed up as in the show with some very impressive reconstructions. The graphics and sound are generally god but nothing outstanding - the characters arent perfect matches for the shows characters but they look like a general likeness. However I have a few niggles on this game firstly and most importantly being that it is too short and far too easy - I completed the game within one day!! In that respect I wouldnt say it was worth the money if you pay full whack for it. My other niggtle which is probably really stupid but it bugged me is the fact that the Level themes did not match the specialisation of the character that was assisting you - for instance Nick is a hair and fibre analyst but is sent on a brutal cop killing which should have surely been the perfect setting for Catherine as she is a blood spatter analyst. Overall I wouls say if you are a fan of the show and you have a day to kill play this game as it is fun however I would say it isn't playable time after time so I wouldnt recommend you pay much for it.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is the shiny new PC game from Ubi Soft, based around the highly successful TV series of the same name. For those of you unfamiliar with the programme, let me explain: my review of the game will make a whole lot more sense if you know what CSI is all about. Admittedly, it does not take the brains of Sherlock Holmes to figure out that it is crime programme, but CSI is far more than just your average ... ...they know whodunit”, a crime drama that looks at the solving of crime from the point of view of the forensic scientists – more specifically, the members of the graveyard shift of the Las Vegas Crime Lab – rather than the usual police perspective investigations that you see in other programmes. At the head of this highly successful crime lab is the master himself, Gil Grissom, one of the top crime scene investigators in the country, a man whose job ...

Advantages: Great visuals, atmosphere, interesting cases, good interface... Disadvantages: ... gets very frustrating at times, a couple of continuity problems...
Crime Scene Investigation is the first game based on the popular TV series of the same name. I've not seen all that many episodes (yet), but I've seen enough to know that it's one of the smarter detective dramas out there, and certainly with its use of techniques such as actually following a bullet's eye view (if bullets had eyes) into the body in great detail, the most visually arresting. Having had a so-so reaction to the "Law and Order 2: Double ... ...the game looked interesting. Featuring all the main stars of the show (thus making it a better buy for fans, I guess), CSI gives you a number of cases to work through. You are a rookie about to start work with the unit under the tuition of the legendary Gil Grissom (
"Concentrate on what cannot lie… the evidence"."), you are talked through all of the necessary commands in the introduction to your first case, in which you investigate the murder of ...

Advantages: Easily available in shops; cheap to buy; exciting to play Disadvantages: Has 3 discs in the pack; takes a while to install; no instructions on how to save a game
This certficate 16 PC game is based on the original TV series. It was released in 2003. We have all the characters from the series including Gil Grissom. The characters and voices sound very similar to the actors playing them, so it's fair to assume they allowed their likenesses to be used.
THE GAME
The game is pretty much what it says on the box - you are a new CSI member, investigating crime scenes, as part of the Las Vegas forensic team. You've ... ...you have to start on the nightshift. You have to try and find who you think has committed various crimes, by collecting evidence. Hopefully, you and your partner will find enough to give to the DA.
First, you get a little tutorial on what you have to do, and then you're basically on your own, though you can ask your CSI partner for hints. This will mean losing points in your final analysis but it's worth it rather than sitting there, baffled for ...

Advantages: music, new challenges, PDA instead of annoying banner, improved gameplay Disadvantages: Graphics still the same, only 5 cases
's more comfortable to play Hard Evidence like that than with the old gameplay.
Another change made concerns the music - it's ongoing and with new tracks. Hard Evidence is also associated to the return of bonuses, absent from 3 Dimensions of Murder PC. And who says bonuses says challenges for having them. The usual "finish the case" and "all evidences found" are still there but a new challenge was created: Search 5 insects per cases for Grissom. Another challenge is making the annoying thoroughness areas from 3 Dimensions of Murder more enjoyable.
A new place in the lab is also appearing: the garage. Now, you can scrutinize a suspect car tied to your case. And finally, there is a new feature: Sidle or Brass can call you on your mobile in the middle of an investigation when they have things for you.
But Hard Evidence is a CSI game ...
Advantages: freedom in the lab, sound and music in the mood of the series, 3D Disadvantages: thoroughness points, HUD, problems with music
CSI 3 dimensions of murder announced an important turn in the saga. Ok, Telltale Games was given the game instead of 369 Interactives by UbiSoft and the graphics are finally in 3D. There are no more final questions asked by Grissom. There are no more crypted messages to decrypt. No more in-depth analysis for a proof to be an expert at the end (well, no more comparaison between two DNA for example even when you had identified the owner).
What's important, it's the feeling of freedom: you analyse everything! Greg is on the field now, so you can do what you want in the labo. Yep, for me, it was frustating! I've played the three previous games (with Miami). 3 Dimensions of Murder was really enjoyed, you can't imagine it even if I didn't have the same emotion I had with the first case of Dark Motives.
3 dimensions of murder is a fresh ...
Advantages: Good Graphics, Good Gameplay/storylines Disadvantages: Short game, can be completed within a week
After being addicted to CSI and playing the first game, i saw the 3 dimensions game and bought it without a thought, like the other csi games you are solving crimes alongside other csi members, however unlike the others, in this game you get a more hands on approach, you get to do all the clasic dna testing, fingerprint matches and searches and even get to use the evidence table to dismantle weapons, and piece together ripped up evidence. Also in this game as the title says, it's 3D, so when you are looking for evidence you get to look in every dimension, when taking photo's you have to take them at the right angle or you miss out on information, this also makes the graphics better and you feel like you are at the crimescene. The game is fun and addictive however there are only five cases so if you are good at the game, it will be over ...

Manufacturer's product description
CSI comes to life on your PC with all the cyber-Sherlock Holmes appeal fans know and love. The high production value of the game and its faithful adherence to the theme, style, and sound of the show prove that its not just a crass attempt to cash in on the CSI craze. As you'd expect, CSI is a mystery adventure game that follows the format of the show. You collect evidence, head to the lab, visit the morgue and so on. You scrutinise the game's screens, looking for evidence or areas that may contain hidden clues. You can use Luminal to find blood traces, you can dust for prints, and you can use the sniffer to get gas samples--all are familiar tools and methods used in the show. CSI fans will likely intuitively know when and where to use each item while adventure game fans will delight in having such new, high tech toys. CSI offers five quality storylines, each of which would feel at home on the show. While you don't get to fill the shoes of one of the show's well-known characters, you do get to work with each of them as you progress along the CSI investigative chain. Show characters join you to provide hints and help you establish the motive, means, and opportunity needed to determine and catch the bad guy.Fans of the show will forgive the short length of the game and merely adequate graphics just because of the quality storylines, use of the real actors, and respect shown the license. Adventure game fans will also appreciate it, even if they'll find it a bit too easy (it's aimed at mainstream fans more than hardcore gamers). CSI brings enough true crime class to be of interest to everyone. --Andrew S Bub In CSI: Crime Scene Investigation you become a CSI agent working alongside Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows and the rest of the CSI Las Vegas team. As a member of the team you question witnesses, examine crime scenes, and analyse evidence using the latest forensic equipment. All eight cast members provided their voices and likenesses for the game--their in-game counterparts look and sound just like the characters in the show. Digital artists used pictures of CSI sets to perfectly recreate the labs and offices of the show. The script was written by Max Allan Collins, author of three CSI novels and the bestselling book Road to Perdition. Ubi Soft Entertainment consulted Las Vegas Senior Crime Scene Analyst Daniel Holstein to validate the accuracy of the CSI forensics referenced in the game. This is as real as it gets.
